Mentioned on a few threads that I was doing the annual Dad + kid BPW trip this week with my now 21 year old son… well it was almost a disaster, but the awesome chaps at the bike park sorted us out and we had a brill time ?

Son’s ebay RS Zebs on his bike turned out to be faulty, no rebound control, and Bike Park Wales/Rock Shox have a loaner scheme called Save The Day – they will loan you a set of forks, if you break yours, for a day’s riding. Well, as there was no way of getting the pogostick Zebs fixed, they loaned us a fork under the scheme for both days riding. So chuffed.

Amazing to see desperateJr’s progression since he’s been riding with his Uni mob. So fast and smooth. I may have been a slow and physically wrecked 60 year old, but man was I happy!

    #savetheday an all that

Thats a great idea! Presume the loan cost a few quid but I’m sure people are happy to pay to not ruin a big trip.

They’ve done it informally for a long time. My wife turned up with a refreshly serviced shock, that was dead after 1 run (good old Flotec). They loaned her a shock for the rest of the day. Not sure what the prices are now, but they certainly weren’t taking the piss back then so hopefully still the same.

    Nope, completely free!

But we did panic about the 2nd day and nip to a local bike shop, who sold us some Yari 170mm forks for £100! So big up Cynon Valley Cycles too.

Contact them if you want some off piste riding in the BPW area, lovely chaps and they seemed keen to show us around.

Didn’t need the Yaris in the end,  but nice to have a spare 🙂

I think there has been a noticeable improvement in the attitude of the staff (cafe, bike shop, bike mtce and especially the drivers) at BPW in the last 3-5 years.

Thank you BPW and long may it continue.

I’m very happy for you but the service I got was repeatedly woeful. Including **** off out of the country (without telling us, without answering repeated calls and emails) instead of servicing the shock he promised would be done before a race. Leaving the poor guy trying to run his shop in Linlithgow to try and clean up his mess.

Then there was the immediate shock death issue. I wasn’t alone in having issues either.

Hopefully/Assume he’s upped his game, and I never dealt with Jules. Note that I wasn’t going to mention him by name, maybe get the mods to remove that.
