no, to run eeeeeeverything. Macs are over-rated and overpriced. Ultimately, they are too much style over too little substance!

As above I use Memory Maps via Parallels or Bootcamp and Ascent for logging tracks.

highclimber, how much time have you spent on a mac? you sound like the standard anti mac pc lover. The hype around macs is bollocks, but they work, the software and hardware work together fine. The number of PCs you see that come with limited software or missing software is impressive, they may be cheap but you then land up forking out extra. Buy a mac you get what you need, you don't need to know about free alternatives, or having to buy extra software.

In the end like for like macs aren't really any more expensive than a pc, it is just you can buy cheap and nasty pcs.

The only thing that does annoy is that there is no OS based mapping program for macs, but i guess the same applies to Linux, Solaris, etc, etc,

Cool, looks like online is the way forward!

    +1 mrmo

Why is it that everytime someone asks for info about a Mac someone has to come on saying PCs are better. Each to their own like everything else in life, it just happens that I'm a graphic designer so it makes sense for me to use a Mac.

Not everytime but in this case a PC is better. There is loads of good mapping software (including GPS interfaces, GPX importing, etc) for PCs.

All of which can be run on (most) Macs – with parallels you can run them from the desktop

Anquet Maps announced back in Sept 2009 that they planned on releasing a Mac/iPhone version of their software, though it seems like they've only got a as far as the beta release.
