    Best – The Adventure Game

    Worst – The Sooty Show.

I just hope that Sweep and Sue were making “The Beast With Two Backs” behind Sooty’s back.

Or getting up too early to find that kids programmes hadn’t started yet and all that was on was the test card or some uber depressing Open University programme.

    Sooty?! I loved Sooty.

Always wondered how Matthew Corbett knew there was someone in Cheadle Hulme not waving. 😕

Dunno what the worst was, and depends how young we’re talking, a lot of what I enjoyed as a comparative young ‘un I still good now!

Used to particularly enjoy Simpsons, Hey Arnold, Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Too many to choose from!

When i was younger it was all about Thomas the Tank Engine.

Why Don’t You was great. You people are revolting.

I saw the last ten minutes of an episode of Bullseye the other day. The bullseye prize was a set of plastic patio furniture. (They won it).

Tick. I still mentally recite the Airwolf theme when riding through trees.

    Worst:

    The Waltons.

    Highway to Heaven

Or any other American schmaltzy moralistic religious nonsense.

My wife loves The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie…

Left Blakes 7 off my list of best TV. The comments on the Ask The Family clip reminded me that it used to be one directly after that show, which could explain how I could be forced to watch the first one.

Best? Jeez. Star Fleet X Bomber, Thunderbirds, Battle of The Planets, Dangermouse, The Clangers, the Trumpton lot, The Muppet Show, The Flumps, The Wombles… but I think I’ll arbitrarily give the nod to Chorlton and The Wheelies.

Worst? I’ll go with Blue Peter for now.

I will change my mind several times later in the thread, obviously.

Worst was those French historical series that were badly dubbed into English.

The Flashing Blade! The tapes for the last couple of episodes were damaged, but the Beeb showed it anyway. Presumably because they knew that nobody was watching.

Pipkins was awesome, although Hartley Hare is now sharing a wing with all of the other celebrity nonces from the ’70s.

Why Don’t You was brilliant for one season where I’d watch it then go and do the stuff afterwards. Doris Sock anyone? Other than that it was bobbins.

I have a special loathing for The Sunday Gang. If I could wangle my way out of going to Sunday School the only thing on TV was more bloody Sunday School with Sesame Street on the other side. I always thought that Sesame Street was aimed at near-idiots, but this is because at that age I wasn’t aware of Americans.

Also, Barnaby the Bear was a ****.

I would just like to add that Blue Thunder kicked Airwolf’s butt.

Anyone else remember The Littlest Hobo? I seem to recall many an afternoon spent round the grandparents’ watching that with some poached eggs and beans on toast…

    *mildly xenophobic chuckle*

I think it was more aimed at people with no real sense of cynicism or darkness. I suspect many Brits would agree that it was only Oscar The Grouch and The Count that made it worth watching.

Anyone else remember The Littlest Hobo?

“..maybe tomorrow I’ll wanna settle down.. but till tomorrow I’ll just keep movin’ on…”

The dog-based dramas (Littlest Hobo and Lassie) always made me cry, especially if the dog loyally and heroically fought something to protect its master.

Still does to be honest. 😳

I blame post-traumatic stress from watching ”Old Yeller”

But the other animal based dramas (Skippy, Flipper, Gentle Ben, Black Beauty etc) left me cold.

    Rentaghost was awful.

Batman (original series) and Take Hart were some of the things I seem to remember looking forward to watching.

Best – Banana Splits. I mean, not only the Banana Splits, but all those cartoons ! Especially the one where they pulled to donkey’s tail and it turned into a hurricane, had that shape shifting bloke too “SIZE OF AN ELEPHANT!”… We never missed it…. also Robinson Crusoe. Made by the dubbing. And the theme tune Da na ner ner ner nerr nerrr

Worst – probably a girls thing. Like the Jackie show or summink. We didn’t watch girls’ stuff. Yeah, I know – Little House on The Prairie .. that was for girls.

    Worst: The Greatest American Hero

I mean, in terms of worst, never before (or since) in the history of human entertainment has such utter, utter shit been produced and put before the people. Take a look at this:

If you can bear it without squirming in your seat while desperately wanting to spontaneously combust, you must be the writer.
