All I can say is lets keep helping each other then. I’m slowly getting back to being a cheerful soul. I just need a few things to go the right way over the next month. Will message you some thoughts.

@tjagain – How are you doing?

    Plodding along

Had an intitial session with a counselor then coincidentally got an “assessment” phone call from CRUSE which was both amateurish and somewhat irrelevant – i answered no to most of the questions so clearly was going to be low priority to them so binned them off especially as they said a further 6 weeks wait

Next session with the counselor I engaged is tomorrow.  she already picked up in the initial session a few things

Had some old pals i have not seen for 17 years staying over the weekend – had a minor attack of kittens before they arrived!

I still want to be a tree

Hi TJ, have you ever thought of starting regular meditation practice? An app like Headapace or Calm can teach you the basics and encourage you to stick with it. It has really helped me and my daughter.

    Best of luck fella.

The anxiety seems to have effed off.  I hope.  Giving a speech at the tory conference maybe did something

Nice one TJ. Definitely approve of the cup of tea reward strategy you’re working up to there 😉
Burger and beer looks good too.

After years of coping/ not coping, I’ve decided to take meds. I’d been suffering symptoms of LPR for months and after just about every test that could be taken, my gastroenterologist figured that stress and anxiety was at the root of my symptoms. 6 weeks into Citalopram and my LPR symptoms are manageable and my anxiety is definitely reduced.
Wished I’d have done it years ago. Would have probably benefited myself and everyone around me greatly.

“ Laryngopharyngeal reflux typically results from the effects of reflux on the glottis and vocal cords. Patients may present with a multitude of symptoms ranging from hoarseness, globus sensation, and chronic throat clearing to heartburn and regurgitation.”
In my case, also increased asthma symptoms

I’ve never had issue eating out by myself(though being autistic i think helps) but when younger(18/19 and off traveling, I’d do a Chinese place at least once a week when I got the giro. and simply couldn’t care what anyone thinks because I think they dont take notice of anyone else. They’re there for their own happy meal.
Maybe with yourself theres a level of self awareness that you think you should feel uncomfortable with, but tbh i really do think nobody notices you.

Just sit and focus in on your grub. Your big day out and look forward to the meal.

i had some (serious) anxiety a few years back
I found giving up coffee, and taking tyrosine helped a lot
Try to zoom out and see the bigger picture, when you get stressed about something
Dont try running away from your feelings, theyll only come back.Stay with them, then you can understand their place
often it makes sense to me,not to try to be a success, because if i cannot be happpy now, i can never be happy, so i need to accept my circumstances, and only then can things improve. stop fighting the present, if tomorrow only exists in your mind, leave it. The brain will take care of itself

A wee update for those who are interested:

I have had five sessions of counseling now.  Person centered stuff from a private counselor. (Cruse were not terribly helpful.)  Its really helped.  No real anxiety attacks for 3 weeks now.  Even last week when I made a total mess of a train journey which would normally be a huge trigger for a meltdown I coped with a “normal” level of anxiety.  I still have to go out to a posh restaurant on my own but that holds no huge fears for me anymore.

This thread while not giving me the instant cure I hoped someone would have ( 🙂 ) has been a  help – perspective and ideas have come from it

Ta folks – as ever you stroppy lot are helpful to folk in distress and you have helped me.

    Thanks

My paradoxical breathing is back, which is stress related, as are swollen lymph nodes. Had it before, anxiety again, but never this bad. Not sleeping properly, or eating, cant concentrate and ad i cant breathe properly bike rides are shit

In fact they make it worse, as i know what i could do last year, amd now can’t. Job and passive aggressive bullying at work making it far harder than it should be.

Go off sick!  Are you getting any pro help?

What can I say?  I feel for you.  My brush with this is (was hopefully) horrid enough

If work is making you ill then go off sick.  You wouldn’t go in with  3 broken legs 🙂  Why go in if your head is broken?
