Ads for subscribers

This is honestly just my opinion, but I really think that you should address the fact that any page on STW takes upwards to ten seconds to load *before* showing ads to the subscribers who are paying the bills.

I’m talking about the giant banner that takes up 1/3 of the screen on the mobile site, and which loads last, meaning that just before you’re about to click or tap on a thread title the page layout shifts and you click the wrong thing.

Show it by default if you want, but at least give the option to turn it off.

Is it the ads that are making this site so slow to load? I’m not seeing any myself but is the ad server stuff still firing before anything else happens and as I’m a paid subscriber it doesn’t show me anything?

Edit – I am seeing the forum sponsor advert on the main forum page…however, that does load and doesn’t jump around for me…just the site is very slow to load – on mobile and desktop for me.

1. Takes up a small bit on my mobile
2. Still loads quickly
3. Lots of 504 errors
4. Desktop performance is pathetic

On one test, this banner blocked page rendering for nine seconds.

I have just started getting really annoying pop up ads on my iPhone, impossible to get rid of some of them too as the little crosses are hidden off screen?!? Also in German at times and very slow to load… just me or is something broken? 🙂 this is the first time I’ve had issues…

I could be wrong, but I think it loads on every page refresh – i.e. it’s not cached in your browser.
