My current gravel (Clement Xplor 40) tyres are approaching replacement. I’d like to increase the volume a bit, plus jump on the fashion wagon with some tan sidewalls. Ideally a smooth centre section with some tame tread on the sides. Pie in the sky? Any ideas?

    Tan sidewalls rock.

Compass (now called René Herse apparently) Steilacoom are awesome but only 38mm and might be a bit knobbly for you (but they do roll well). I’ve had them on for a few months now and am about to order some more.

They do others that would be worth a look –

Slightly beefier option WTB Nanos, they roll beautifully.

I have WTB Horizon’s on my Glencoe.

They are do able off road but I wouldn’t want to hack into a corner on them.

Depends on how you use the bike I guess.
