    anyone got one?

come friday next week i may be buying a new mtb. it will be the 1st one i have bought in 5yrs. i dont even know if riding offroad will have the same appeal for me, so i dont want to spend a fortune.

i want a bike with a tough frame, some air forks and one that i can spin and push up a lakeland hill, and have some fun riding down, and also that i can pop some slicks on and use to commute on in the winter if i dont have a good outcome.

on ones have always seemed to fit that bill for me….and the slightly bigger wheel is something i like.

    any thoughts greatly appreciated.

In the process of building mine, I’m swapping some parts over from my 456-evo but obviously I’ve had to get new forks and wheels.
It looks very much like the Evo but with longer chainstays for the bigger wheels. If it is as good as the Evo I’ll be chuffed to bits, that bike is fun, bombproof and can handle anything…. If the 45650b turns out similar but with better stability and can roll over small imperfections on the trail better than 26 inch wheels then it will be awesome.
I’m likely to have it up and running for the STW gathering at Bike Park Wales in early November so I’ll do a proper review then…. Actually that’s ages away, I’ll have it built before then!
The forks are Revelations and the wheels are Superstar Tactics…. I didn’t go for the On-One build as the wait was too long, my Evo was a complete bike from them and I had no problems.
    Buy one!

I built one and enjoy it for a bit of everything but proper rough stuff (got the full bouncer for that)

I’ve had local blasts and 40/50 milers with a mix of coast paths and trail centres etc

    Does everything fine 🙂

I’ve got one! Me me me! It certainly flies everywhere I take it, uphill or down, seems great so far. I’m a bit of a rubbish reviewer so sorry!
All I can add is that I haven’t been dissatisfied with it yet. Some people have said that it’s a bit heavy, I haven’t weighed it but it didn’t feel especially heavy.
I haven’t swapped too much from the onone build apart from bars, saddle and seatpost.
As for whether I can tell the difference between 27.5 and 26? It’s not as obvious as when I went from 26 to to 29 plus (Krampus) but it doesn’t feel as bmx like as 26 inch bikes did to my 6’3″ body and it feels like it skips over things a bit easier. Hardly conclusive proof I know but the 27.5 456 cost as much as the 26 so I thought what the hell.

Excuse the blue chainstay protector. It will be gone soon.

I’m 6’3″ and that is the 20 inch frame. Yes, it’s not just raw it’s “super raw” apparently. Looks lovely in the flesh.

Re the first half of your third paragraph – not a 45650b, but I’m waiting for one of these to arrive. Plenty of rider opinions on their facebook page. Lots of options from £1100ish.

Ton, I would perhaps be looking at other on one options judging from what you seem to be looking for?
    Parkwood perhaps?

    BUMP!

Ton – how did you get on with the 45650b? and anyone else for that matter?

I’m eyeing up a 20″ version of their fancy X0 build – wasnt sure if 20″ would look gateish after coming from a large Soul (26), but me likey Croc’s pic above

Are they anywhere near as agile as a Soul?

Well I love mine. Bought the frame separately. Stuck some flow ex’s, RS Rev, dropper, Zee mech and brakes, 1×10 xt crankset and some hope stuff.

Feels like a tank going through mud, climbs well, descends really well and feels good in the air 😀

    holy thread resurrection batman!

i’m split on what size to get. 6ft 2. Want the less gate like 18 but think the 20inch may be more sensible.

    Have one? what size?

    cheers

I am 5’10 abd ride a 16″ frame. I would also fit an 18″ frame but went for the smaller one so i could fit a dropper.
Built it up myself over a few months, all new parts for just over £1000

    I’m 6’2″ and have an old 26″ 456 and it fits me well, wouldn’t want a 20″

To put a different spin I’m around 6.2 and have the 20″. For me the18″ would be way too smal. Seatpost would be massive (if it could get in below the minimum insertion) and the reach wouldn’t be there without a long stem, which would go against the point of a aggressive hardtail.
