    Victoria Pendleton and Anna Mears having an emotional touchy-feely moment trackside, two of the fiercest competitors caught in a moment of career reflection.

    They gave each other a big hug after London (when VP retired). After the sprint where VP got silver and AM got gold, VP was too pissed off to say or do anything but a couple of days later they were discussing their respective wedding dresses together. 🙂

    Viviani’s emotion at the end was nice to see but it went on a bit too long, carrying on blubbing for a long while in track centre.

    Please can you post a YouTube link for your celebration when you won an Olympic gold? Just so we know how it should be done like.

    Good start to the sprint qualifying – commanding win by Becky James and then Katy Marchant diving down for a pass and a long sprint and winning comfortably. Great

    yes, and i think once he realised he wasn’t top 2 it wasn’t worth the effort to come 3rd / 4th.

    Great ride by Kenny. And WTF was that move on the back straight – cut and pasting lines or what.

    Relegated for dropping down too early when he overtook the ‘merkin – he’s out 🙁

    first such technical intervention I can recall in these olympics – there seemed to be more in the London olympics

    I hear the Aussies are in full-on “Whinge Mode” about GB cycling, accusing us of coming from nowhere to world beaters in Olympic year. Basically saying we are all dopers, without using the words.

    Trott was not only fast, she looked fast 😯

    I’ve done a session at the Newport Velodrome when it first opened so I know how hard it is to do a lap at 40kmh, once, but 65k+ is just ridiculous!! Same as tjagain too, no real interest in track, or road racing, but this is brilliant stuff.

    I know Jess Varnish vs Shane Sutton is old news, but we have the two fastest girls in the world, find a third and we’d have been the ones to beat for the team sprint too. Not getting the points to qualify is looking dafter by the day.

    And how do they stop Kenny? That’s just totes amazeballs.

    Strikes me that where the abilities are more mixed, it’s more chaotic but also easier to gain a lap in the women’s – the number of catches in the pursuit showing that the discrepancy in endurance speed is such that a fast group can catch the back of a slow group within a few hard laps.

    I get the feeling Trott’s just contesting sprints now for shits and giggles.
