Just home after a couple of hours in the Pentlands on the cross bike. Fantastic autumn sunshine. Not sure about the rest of Britain, but if you're in Edinburgh then jump on your bike and get out.

Currently trying to negotiate with Mrs Kenny to get back out this afternoon.

whats it like up there today? It was pretty bad last week. My fave trail, cox's, has taken a hammering, the last steep bit has been ridden heavily either by someone repeatedly or a group with the old locked-back-brake approach and its a bit of a muddy chute. Capelaw was bad too.

I was up for a wee spin round on Friday night and some bits are as bad as I've ever seen them. I also got the impression (don't know why) that there had been a big group up.

I reckon there needs to be a ban on all non-Fat Bikes until March ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice morning for a run this morning, started at 6 & ran through the dawn for an hour or so. Lovely time to be out. Sunrise was nice. Hopefully prise the family out on bikes later, with the promise of tea & cake no doubt. ๐Ÿ™‚

A lot of the Pentlands tracks are as muddy and cut up as I've ever seen them. Even Maidens, traditionally hard wearing since it was "done up" a few years back, is starting to show a lot of signs of wear.

I've always fancied a fat bike but never had the excuse to get one. I was very tempted by that frame The Bike Chain were flogging cheap last week.

Stunning day but I'm on nights so have very little energy been up for about an hour. Popping out in a bit with the Mrs and our eldest then I'll be heading back for some sleep before work. Make the most of it folks.

Was out yesterday, bit muddy, bit slippery but great fun. Need to fettle a bit as the headset came loose so will try to get some more miles to "bed it in" later.

Just back from sons football match, was quite pleasant in the sunshine. The game was abandoned with 20 min to go due to a suspected broken ankle.

Not sure I can get out today tho, however forecast looks good for tomorrow so I will get out while everyone is at work 8)

It was an excellent morning.

I was half listening to the TV yesterday when a lady came on with a weather forcast for today. She said it would be wet, cold and windy. Which made me a bit unhappy.

I'm glad she was completely wrong.

Just back from a ride with the smaller Cursings.

Second pic was for the benefit of a couple of more cash than dash fellas. One on a New Stuntjumper and his mate on a Scott carbon thing. They got off and lifted their bikes down that. Made me chuckle anyway.

Ditto on the Mendips, but on my hack bike - Dry and fast in places, other bits where the wheels were never going in the same direction at the same time! Thrill a minute. One unexpected low-speed OTB. Still not finding the courage to descend the lowest part of East Twin, but I managed to get half-way down the trickiest bit before deliberately bailing-out sideways. I'm convinced I can do it. A very good ride with one grumpy walker encounter and 10s of positive ones - they seemed to like watching me struggle up steep hills.

Lovely day here too - we were up for a CX race in Northwich. Blue skies but my first taste of CX mud and oddly sapping soft wet ground (it's only my second race so it's all new). Great race thanks to Weaver Valley CC!

Drooling over those photos though - wish we could have done everything in one day - days off like this are just too rare.

Nipped to glentress instead, was an amazing day, larches golden and Beeches almost orange against a blue sky. I wonder if the uni club has been caning the Pentlands, can't think of any other big clubs.

Got up and went for a jog.

Took all my will not to get the bike and go up the hill. Jimmy and me had a plan to paint my front room and we stuck to it.

He was on call all weekend and i really needed the help to get the job finished.

We spent the day justifying the lack of riding on the basis that it was super wet and we would make a mess of trails. Seems by what you guys have said that it is in bacd nick regardless.

What a day though, the view of the hills from all the angles along colinton road and woodhall were amazing.

Got some free time on wed... hopefully it is nice then too!

It's been a great weekend here (Berkshire/Oxfordshire).

Did a 40mile loop on my SS up onto the ridgeway trail via some cheeky singletrack, and home via the pub yesterday. twas great.

today was great weather too no riding though, family walk instead...

All round a good weekend.

I'm waiting to see a proper downside to climate change...

Persuaded Jnr to get out for only his second decent ride of the year - took him for a steady 4 miles up the Tissington Trail from Ashbourne to Tissington in glorious autumn sunshine and stunning Peak scenery.

Then met up with the rest of the tribe and went to Dovedale with the hordes.

Lovely day today

Not sure about maps. Trouble is the Pentlands is an area I know so well I never really think about it. However if you look for Harlaw Reservoir on a map and just head off on any of the trails from there you won't go far wrong. Check out the woods next to the trails too. There's often some tasty singletrack hidden away. There are trails and tracks everywhere up there, so you won't have too many problems.
