[Closed] Home made compressor for tubeless?

I've seen that people are making their own dirtworkers, is there any way I could rig up a cheap and cheerful compressor for filling tubeless tyres?

I can't really see the need to spend £100+ on a compressor I'm going to use about 3 times a year.

Find on old fridge and get the compressor out it? I have loads of fun with them when I was a kid but not sure how easy they are to get hold of now given all the recycling requirements etc.

Little risk in making a dirtworker using off the shelf parts.

A compressor is a much more dangerous bit of kit

I'm sure you could rig up a big water bottle. pump up with a track pump and have a proper inflator coming out it relatively easily.bet it would pump up quicker than my compressor.sure 80 psi would be a safe ish pressure and would be enough to pop you're tyre on.obviously safety is important though.

Sort of like a water bottle rocket.

Why on earth would you need a compressor to seat tubeless tyres? I can easily seat them up with a track pump and a bit of oomph (UST tyres on UST rims though...)

Sam feel free to come and sort my tyres when I need them changed 😉

ust compatible rims with rim strips and non ust tyres.

There used to be a thing on MTBR showing how to build a receiver using a big water bottle... Used a track pump or cheap car tyre 12V compressor to charge it. Not very good really but clever.

My grandad used an old truck tyre... Plugged in his little tyre inflator that he stole from the RAF, left it to inflate the truck tyre to stupendous pressures which took about 20 minutes, then had a double-ended air hose. That was for mounting car tyres but the same idea applies.

I suppose it helped that I knew the posts were out there 😉

I'd even make something up to provide a decent blast of air to seat my tyres...my compressor is not the best at that.

Great for the fat bike though 😉

If I have a Stubborn new tyre on Ghetto, I usually have a quick trip to the garage to get it started. Thereafter, it will go up with the track pump.

With my stans Flow, I have always got Non UST to go up first time with the track pump myself

can try, placing a strap/rope etc round centre of tyre and use it to both force the middle of the tyre into rim well and simultaneously encourage bead out to side of rim, then pump like billy-oh
