    Even if they’re beyond fixing…

    1. Chain stay protection
    2. Rubber shims
    3. Bed creak prevention
    4. Boiler repairs (yes really, patched up a leaking combi with inner tubes and a dry wall anchor – it held pressure)
    Etc…

I’m sure there used to be a 101 uses for an old inner tube thread on here

    Just for IGM:

Wrapping around heavy duty chain locks to stop them marking your frame.

    Slings for broken arms.

Tow “ropes” for when your mates cranks inexplicably* fail miles from anywhere.

*I blame him for not tightening the pinch bolts, he is still at a loss to explain how the splines failed and the nds crank am would no longer stay on.

Cut them into rings of varying widths (3-10mm) and chuck them in a pot on your desk- best and strongest elastic bands ever and great for spending hours messing/procrastinating with!!!!

Plastic waste pipe under the sink, that was slghtly misaligned & wouldn’t seal.
Disconnected the joint, stretched a section of innertube over, then reconnected & rolled it back.
    Never leaked again. 🙂

Old guy who visited the shop I worked in used to ask for punctured tubes out of the bin.
One time I made the mistake of asking what he used them for…..

He used them on camping trips. He’d cut them open into a length of tubing, and at night he’d slip one end over his old fella, and stick the other end out of the tent so that he didn’t have to get up in the middle of the night.

Had always found him pretty creepy beforehand and this confirmed my feelings.

Cut into bands for making hand brakes (brake lever pulled back to the bar) for when you’re touring. Stops that ‘ah fkcu’ moment as your bike rolls away and falls over.

Mudflaps for protecting front mechs and suspension pivots from mud/spray. Stretched around bar-ends and seatpost to hold steering straight whilst you walk seven miles back home with a totally seized rear hub (freehub bolt worked loose).

Anti splinter protection for kids tree house – sliced into strips and nailed over the “rubbing points” where they climb up and slide down past rubbish softwood overlaps.

Shrub/ornamnental tree straighteners – tie to trunk/stem and apply tension in required direction, stake other end to ground, wait a season or two and bobs your uncle! 😆

Cut out the valve with only a slight ‘flare’ of rubber left on the base of it. (Trial and error will show how much you need to leave on).
Drill a valve stem +a bit sized hole in coke bottle cap – insert valve from inside.
The ‘flare’ of rubber should hold the valve in place, but should eventually come out under pressure.
Screw top back on coke bottle.
Attach the track pump and get pumping…Experiment with a bit of water in the bottom of the bottle for added boost (and soaking).
If that does not work so well, replace cap with a drilled wine cork and valve shoved through.

garlic clove peeler – How does that work ?

Cut a 3 inch length from the tube.
    Insert garlic clove
    roll between palm of hands.
    Voila*

    *I’ve never tried this

How about ghetto rim strips for larger wheel diameters?

Ought to work, the Stans fluid would seal any punctures.
