Love your Assos kit but don’t want to wear your road gear on the gnarmac? Mountain bike baggies spoiling your gravel grinding? Fret no more: Assos has now brought out a small gravel specific range for men, plus a video to mark the occasion.
Where is that? Iceland? It looks nice (legendary headwind not shown). Anyway, back to the clothes. It’s not just gravel gear, it’s a ‘gravel system’ of three items:
- MILLE GTC KIESPANZER Bib Shorts C2 – £210
- MILLE GTC ZEPPELIN Cargo Shorts C2 – £140
- MILLE GTC Jersey C2 – £110
As well as more pockets – as we’ve come to expect of gravel gear – the Kiespanzer bib shorts come with the new C2 insert featuring ‘Shock-Absorb Damping Twin with microShock, filterFoam and 19mm of gravel comfort’. Apparently, this means the chamois can move with your body rather than rubbing against it, as you bump along the gravel trails. To further reduce irritation there’s also Thermoformed shaping and odorControl Top SheetTex.
Like the bib shorts, the Zepplin Cargo shorts are also designed to be comfortable, retaining a baggy fit without any abrasion, and even forgoing waist fasteners for extra comfort. Come on, admit it – you’ve been wearing elasticated waistbands at home for the last two years, they’re comfy – why wouldn’t you want to take that comfort to the trails? Also handy if you suffer from koumpounophobia.
Designed to be durable, lightweight, and breathable while carrying all the gear you need, if you’ve already got an Assos Trail jersey for mountain biking, the Mille GTC jersey fabric will be familiar. However, this jersey comes with all the pockets you’d expect of a road (or gravel) jersey, plus a softer collar and cuff material for extra comfort.
The new Assos gravel range is available now.

They all look great. I’ll definitely be buying once they are 40% of the cost 🙂
