Bottom bracket standards are anything but, and it often require adapters to fit your cranks to a new frame. Our Specialized Crux frame provided one such conundrum and this BB converter from Wheels Manufacturing should solve our problems.
Our test product is the £99.99 Enduro Ceramic Bearing option, so we can see how the posh balls resist a winter of UK slop and grime. (A standard cartridge bearing version is available for £60 and an angular contact bearing version is available for £70). Given that this includes everything you need to fit a standard 24mm axle crank into a BB30 frameset, it works out reasonably competitive compared to a separate BB, spacers and adapters. With its threading together fitment, and far fewer parts compared to separate adapters, this should reduce squeak and creek potential.
We’ll be getting back with initial impressions very soon, and after some (hopefully) muddy rides and races, a full Rated review will be forthcoming.
