    As last time (Phil), but even more so – I fancy trying to hold you lot as long as I can but if you’re all riding as your numbers suggest you can, I will likely not make it much past the first climb (if that). Again as before, it won’t ruin my ride AT ALL if I’m dropped and I’d argue that it’d ruin all of yours if I’m not. Honest, I’m happy with that. You look like a mighty strong team and you could go really well

    Having scaredypants as draft only is a valid strategy as it still helps the team move faster.

    We work it so I call out the name and the length of time of the pull. You memorise the person in front of you in the pull rotation and once there name is called you know you have 30 to 60 seconds until your turn on the front. Requires little forethought then and I just have a print of the race order in front of me to do the calls.

    not everyone needs to pull. I often don’t and can’t when in a team with A+ riders. Just hanging on is hard enough. Hanging in does increase the pack speed though. Try to hide in the middle as much as you can where it is easiest.

    thanks for the link. I was thinking a bit more informal than your pace line. The key thing is trying to avoid 2 behind slider on the front and both having to go hard instead of just one. It is a waste of effort.

    This is what I would suggest with each pull at 370w. Happy to change that but you will potentially burn out the riders at the back if you go any higher. Its only a target so aim for +/- 10w. 30 seconds at 130% FTP should be doable with recovery as it is a little over VO2 threshold but only for a short time.

    Phil should be able to cover any gaps still. This will hopefully keep scaredy fresh(ish) to attack the two hills at 4.2 w/kg as they are pretty short bursts.

    We dont have a pace line behind the front it is still a blob/lollipop so still fairly informal just means that only one person should be working hard on the front.

    EDIT: Didnt see your update message Nixie – ignore if you want! You are a really well balanced team so if you can keep scaredy at the back and then push on the hills you will be very quick.

    Thanks Rob. Interesting to see the numbers none the less. I hadn’t seen your reply when I posted mine 😃. Very valid point about burning others out by going to hard, better to go a bit less but for longer.

    This is a great TTT course, I think it’s its first appearance in this direction. Nice long start to get going, two distinct difficulties with a nice gap between them. Enjoy.

    Well done MoreSTW. Was pleased with that we paced nicely for the first 2/3s. Shame zilog had tech issues. Got a little disjointed as we got tangled with teams in the second half but overall I think it went well.

    Sorry I was quite scrappy tonight STW. Couldn’t get the right pull power dialed in so was bouncing around too much. All those overtakes were great fun 😃.

    Yeah sorry about that, was gutted! My own fault, first ride with all sensors paired to ATV (replacement HR strap only arrived today!), should’ve tested first. Everything seemed to work,then I paired with my headset for Discord in the pen, about a minute to go noticed everything else had dropped out! So got it all re-paired, but then had no Comms (managed to do first pull just by keeping an eye on Ant!) Stupidly re-paired headset and then obviously power dropped out 😭 Weirdly it kept me at 214W no matter what I was doing (even when I stopped pedalling) – was tempted just to leave it running to rack up XP & pick up the 100 miler achievement 😂

    Same as Nixie…bit scrappy from my part too. Was having a problem with comms though. I could hear Phil well, but Nixie and Ian really broken so wasn’t sure if you guys were going up etc. Sorry if the pulls were too much, think my acceleration needs to be steadier to get to the front as I found myself either getting stuck second wheel or gaping second place by a second or so! Did find Martin V kept appearing in the void that I’d left though! Top work.
    Tail of 2 laps really, sorry to drop Martin, but the speed on lap 2 was rapid. More passes than a crap Mastermind contestant.

    Thanks – happy to have stayed in the bunch until 3k to go, thanks for waiting on the hill, I rolled in to the finish.

    I was using different headset comms this week, hope I sounded a bit clearer to those that could hear.

    Never seemed to get much rest other than the downhill, but I guess a ttt is not the place for rest.

    Ooof – been a tough week for me. Hit an 18-month high FTP on Tuesday in the Robbo TT and then was 1 watt below that today (sorry for slacking !). I would say that I’ll sleep well tonight bit I sleep like shit after a lateish ride

    We last did it in February, and beforehand in December. Something odd is happening (it has been listed as “reverse” some of these times, which doesn’t even exist). Never mind, it’s a good fast TTT course anyway.

    Mbs signed up very promptly for this week and I did wonder if it was try to avoid this outcome.

    Fine by me Rob, it seems to work pretty well. Hopefully I’ll avoid the spectacular blow up I experienced on Box Hill on Tuesday evening.

    I wondered what happened to you drew – you were with our group and I assumed you were back 30 seconds or so on the hill but noticed in the results you had dropped down a fair way!

    As we have done this course 4 weeks ago we have a good benchmark to aim for and beat this week! The team might even be the exact same. I’ll double check later.

    It’s an espresso / latte split again this week.

    It might be time to change our signup process / sequence to get in the right pens. I’m nearer a spreadsheet than ever…

    I don’t think there’s a case for splitting the A’s so we ride 2x frappes, even occasionally, because that mixes our As and Cs up, and I think people prefer to avoid that. But if I’m wrong, someone tell me.

    I think keep wattage the same. We are still burning through people towards the end so don’t think it is right to increase it yet.
