Did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks yesterday and there was a poor chap on the top of Whernside getting chest compressions, they had apparently been going for nearly half an hour. Looks like the air ambulance did eventually get there but it didn’t sound promising.

Anyone know what the outcome was? I’d be so relieved if I knew that he’d made it.

    Afraid not a good outcome.

The team was alerted by both Cumbria Police and North Yorkshire Police to reports of an adult male who was unconcious and not breathing. Once it was established this was a single incident and the location was close to the summit of Whernside which borders both counties the team was able to respond. The team also made a request for Yorkshire Air Ambulance to attend through the police. Two medical professionals who were walking on Whernside had already begun CPR and they also had a defibrillator with them. Sadly despite their best efforts and those of the helimed crew the casualty could not be resuscitated. The team then worked with the helimed crew to evacuate the casualty to the roadhead for transfer to the police and ambulance crew.

The team’s thoughts are with the deceased’s family and friends.  FATAL

Shit. Rear in peace fella. Will wing a donation to the local rescue teams it’s the least I can do. Still find it shocking that air ambulances aren’t publicly funded as well.

I was the same about the RNLI not receiving public money until it was tactfully pointed out to me that that would mean politicians being involved.

I was a bit shocked that defibrillators are full rate VAT tbh – I looked at the costs after reading above that the first on scene had a portable one with them.
