I’m having problems with my SB66, the rear tyre is rubbing against the seat tube whenever I do any kind of jump. I’m running the shock at the max of 300psi. Has anyone had the same problem, if so how did you sort it. Cheers

In the air or upon landing? Is your rear axle loose? Enough pressure in the shock? Too high volume tyres?

It happens when landing, all pressures etc are correct and the frame is only weeks old.

Cheers for the link that’s spot on. At least I’m not the only one. Thx

Maybe this is one of the reasons why the carbon version is (well) delayed?

Why does it matter what pressure is in the shock…If it’s hitting the seat-tube, that’s a design fault and should be returned?!

Wrong length or faulty shock? No problem with mine and 300 psi is a lot

I agree, probably nothing to do with the shock pressure in my opinion, it shouldn’t travel as far as the seat tube.

Can you recreate it in the garage by letting the air out of the shock? Have you fitted a vast rear tyre?

Only running 2.35 Ardent tyre on the rear. Will deflate the shock and see what happens. Cheers

    I don’t reckon that’s an accurate method.

    1) The shock I’m sure has some compressible bottom-out bumper
    2) In a hard landing the frame will deform
    3) Likewise the tyre/wheel can deform on landings

It doesn’t sound very good, but the advice seems to be to get over it, and stick some heli tape on the back of the seat tube to protect it from scuffs. I’m not sure I’d accept that option on my brand new £2k frame…

    No problem here.
Medium frame, 185 psi in the shock & I’ve had the o ring off the end with no sign of the tyre hitting the frame.

Cheers for the advice lads, I’ve sent an email to Silverfish to see what they advise. Thx

As above. If the tyre hits the frame, regardless of shock type or pressure there’s a problem with its design or spec. Nothing to do with user set up. Either the shock is too short or the frame geometry is wrong.

Also check it’s the right rear shock length and the wrong one hasn’t been fitted.

What size frame is this jtodd?
