    Don’t look at me.

Looks like ChatGPT’s attempt at an internet startup.

How TF is a name to “X” dreaming big?

Surely this is just an extension of what was already a vanity project to try and add credit to Elmos “input” into a product he hasnt made any better and existed long before he was forced to buy it?

I think it was part of his “plan” when he brought twitter rather than an extension. He wants to do a equivalent of WeChat.

X, traditionally used to indicate something missing or failed to load.

    x-tension, please.

Thought it was a nice gesture, naming it after one of his kids.

In theory X isn’t a terrible idea, it’s unlikely to work and will cost £B’s to develop but if it did work it would be a massive cash cow. The thing is you need a large highly motivated well-funded dev team, with clear strategy – not a team that’s been cut to the bone with the direction being set by an edgelord, who thinks he’s cleverer than he actually is, tweeting whilst stoned

Elon has a thing for ‘X’ as a company/ product name. PayPal was apparently almost ‘X.com’…

His stated goal is to turn twitter into something more like WeChat, bolting payment and financial services onto a Comms app.

So he’s killing off one of the most recognisable brands in the world because twenty odd years ago it was generally agreed ‘X’ is a kind of shit company name and he was voted down…

It’s the master plan of X billionaire Elon Musk.

The branding has a familiar, comforting, feel, though.

He wants to do a equivalent of WeChat.

However, his starting move of collapsing the revenue of his existing assets, is certainly a non conventional way of expanding….

    PayPal was apparently almost ‘X.com’…

Luckily, there were some adults in the room at the time…

Musk got lucky with PayPal and thinks it was down to his genius.

Sounds like the mistake he made was to buy Twitter, that isnt what he wants,  instead of buying WeChat… that seems to be exactly what he wants.

Nevermind though – he can build his new dream from scratch with all the talented Twitter employees he bought.

I like that he’s putting out a call for people to design a logo for something that as yet is non Xistent

So now they’ve scrapped the name Twitter, the only thing that X has going for it is its users.

Many of whom are probably rolling their eyes and thinking again about whether they really want to stick with it.

Terrible judgement. I mean Facebook is a bad name for what it is, but Meta are smart enough to know that it has value as a brand.

I remember i worked for Wood Group, and they renamed themselves as ‘Wood’, which i thought was a bit random. After asking the managers, i asked why the one word company name.

They said that they wanted to be like Virgin, where Virgin is the Brand, and the the companies file under it, Virgin Music, Virgin Money, Virgin Atlantic etc.

So looks like Musk is maybe trying to align his companies under the brand name X. So Space X, X (twitter) etc. Just have to rename Tesla, Starlink etc…

This feels a bit like Hermes rebranding as Evri.

So if you used to tweet while on twitter, what do you now do on X?

Seems like the ultimate back-of-a-fag-packet rebranding exercise

Here is how to distinguish Elon Musk’s new X.com from 1994 computer strategy gaming classic XCOM: one involves a brave struggle against freakish, hideous alien intelligence seeking to undermine world civilization with advanced technology and the other is a computer game
