The bottom bracket of my LX HTII chainset is getting distinctly wobbly/grauchy/clunky. Just considering whether to replace with a new BB – choices for that are Shimano replacement bearings, Hope Stainless or Ceramic or Superstar Ceramic. My other alternative idea is to stick a new XT HTII chainset on it.

Any guidance from the forum on the best path to take? (of those I’ve mentioned or any that I haven’t) – haven’t had a close look at the rings on my chainset but my guess would be middle ring will be ‘tired’, granny and big rings will still have plenty of life in them.

If it’s only one ring that needs replacing, it’s hardly worth swapping the chainset, if all three are worn then it’s probably the cheapest and easiest option, no skinned knuckles removing ‘rings etc.
