What has gone wrong, I figured them as a possibility for the next World Cup, not after that shambles.

What must be worrying for Wales is aside from an interception they didn’t look like scoring. And if Samoa could kick their chances it would have been a big defeat.

Wales have a big imposing set of backs, some good loose forwards but they were nowhere to be seen.

Halfpenny is a quality player though.
Wasn’t convinced of the swinging arm, more of a worry for me is the lack of arms used in tackles these days. Yes he caught him, Halfpenny was going low too so seemed worse, but was the defender just making a wrap tackle? Some of the hits these days are just that with no attempt to use arms which I feel are far more likely to cause injury.

They did alright in the scrums first half but I think Jarvis got tired and with Scott Andrews on the bench wales were ****. With Adam and Mitchell broken the cupboard is bare at tighthead.

Wales havent played any pretty rugby since 2005. Its one of the great rugby myths. Under Gatland they have played very simple bosh rugby. Odd that it has worked under Gatland and gone to utter shite under Howley. Not sure if we should blame the shite being played by the regions and the depressed nature of the regional game or Howley or both. Clearly the players can do better.
On the plus side wales have gone two games without unleashing an attacking move in the backs so NZ will have nothing to analyse when we revert from one up runs to a dazzling array of dummy runners, support linrs and offloads. The all blacks will be forced to just sit back clap as we cut them to ribbons…………….. NURSe!!!!!!!!

My call is England to win – close at the first half, with us opening a small gap in the second. I’m going for 19-13 England (1 Try, 4 penalties from the scrum-attack).

Decent second half from Scotland there, but still lacking that last killer blow to score. Some nice stuff all round, and good hard game from both sides.

Anyone know if there are going to be any citings after last night? I thought the Biggar issue looked a little beyond the pale.

The hit on Biggar, the hit on Hibbard, the hit on 1/2p and the neck hold and judo throw on Owens could all be citings, welsh pack should have cracked a few skulls over it all but were half asleep.

Hurumph. IMO Aus got away with a fair bit in the rucks. But we didn’t really turn up.

I thought Aus were fine at the rucks, better technique and more power, England also lack a real 7. Having said that England looked pretty good, would hammer Wales at the moment (who wouldnt).
Barnes at 15 and Beale at 10 really works despite what I said earlier. Barnes playing as a distributer in mid field makes them look very dangerous the range of passes those two can deliver is brilliant.

There was a fair amount of rolling around in the rucks, and kicking the ball out of the the rucks as well. Their try was forward but I’d accept that on the basis Tuilagi’s is doubtful, and their prop should have been carded for deliberate fouling after knocking that ball away near thier line. Fair amount of shoving in the line out.

All in all though, they were more Streetwise, not necessarily more talanted.

I think all the s. hem sides are better at the breakdown and better at getting over the gain line. I wonder if it stems from playing on hard fast pitches more?
