I need a hat to get rid of the sweat into the air rather than into my eyes

The answer is a buff, either headband style or folder/twisted into a beanie

I've got a couple of running caps from Headsweats (US company, don't know how easy they are to get over here) that are really good for wicking. That or, as IHN says, a Buff - I've got a couple of old ones I've cut in half horizontally to make a double-layer headband.

I'm using a Montane Via running cap. More to keep the sun off my fivehead really, but it's a great wicker too.

I've got a few flexfit caps from Fox or Alpine stars that are 'Tech' material with little holes and dead easy to wash and dry after. Also just bought an Oakley one in similar material.

This sort of thing:

As an almost-baldie (grade zero all over) runner, I usually just wear a headband or (as above) a buff.

You must have a drawerful of old MBUK buffs to try it out?

Fellow baldy runner.
I don't like buffs for this purpose and much prefer a running cap.
The cheap Decathlon caps do the job just fine, or try RUNR for a bit more colour.

There's a STW members discount for RUNR

lightweight beanie hat in winter, buff in spring/autumn and a headband when it's too hot for the buff.
Don't like wearing caps.

How about this with plenty of colour to choose from?
Columbia Tech Shade™ Unisex Hat

"As its name implies, this technical ball cap packs a performance punch—featuring mesh side panels to keep the cool air flowing through, a wicking sweatband to keep your forehead and crown dry during hot weather and dynamic activity, and an adjustable back closure for the perfect secure fit.

Uses: Trail Running, Trail-Running / Training"

I find buffs too hot in the summer - I wear them for warmth not wicking. I've a couple of Inov8 caps that are great. Very lightweight, wash easily and definitely wick - the peaks are usually quite wet after a longer run so they definitely pull the sweat away from your head.

plus I hang one of these from my sack.

Does it not flap around between your legs when you're running?

IMO you want one with a foldable peak so it's easier to run with in your hand (which I tend to do to mix it up)

When I asked on a thread recently about my excessively sweaty helmet (fnar) the overwhelming response was Halo headband, but they do hats too so I'd check them out and not mad money either.

Fellow baldy sweaty runner (well trying..) here watching with interest. Some good looking kit in the links above but all seem to be one size.. and with a 63cm dome it just doesn’t work! anyone know of any good caps that come in different sizes?

Vaga is all the rage over the 'Gram ATM, available in lots of colours https://www.teamvaga.co.uk/shop/club-cap

For truly hot conditions, though zero SPF then Patagonia do a string vest hat https://eu.patagonia.com/gb/en/product/duckbill-cap/28818.html?dwvar_28818_color=BLK&cgid=mens-hats-accessories

Most of the above look FAR too heavy for proper running.

Soar Running make probably the technically best / most well thought out (and likely most lightweight too) running cap

Here

Their design team are all elite runners, they test/push/innovate/repeat-cycle the **** out of the products.

"Made from a lightweight, quick-drying polyester fabric, the revised five-panel design wraps around the head for maximum protection and a secure fit. Laser-cut holes at the side of the cap allow hot air to vent away from the head so you can concentrate on your pacing without overheating. A simple drawstring closure at the rear adjusts with a single pull for the perfect fit every time. A new elliptical peak has been designed for on-run performance - keeping out both the sun and the rain. Now available in five new colours, this cap also features reflective details to maximise your visibility."

That Soar cap looks great but it’s “one size fits all” unfortunately. Disappointing that at that price point you still can’t get different sizes.. clearly all down to cost but it grates when you can get some caps in 10 colours but only 1 size.

Not for me it isn't. I absolutely detest wearing the horrible things. Much prefer a running cap. But despite being a hot sweaty mess it doesn't end up in my eyes generally.

I'm more likely to wear a buff or skull cap in the Winter. As soon as it warms up, I'm wearing a cap.

I always wear at least one towelling wrist band too.

The Flexfit ones like the fox come in S/M or L/XL, my head is about 58cm and I wear the S/M.

Actually that Leisure LAkes link does say One size, but the fox website show different sizes. Not heavy at all. I wear it at park run every week and have run 10k's in it. Oakley one is adjustable and very lightwieght.

I wet shave my head so proper bald and i'm very sweaty as well, so these caps get a good work out!!

I've got one of the Buff Pack Speed Caps - https://www.runnersneed.com/p/buff-pack-speed-cap-M1114246.html?colour=121 - that I've found pretty good. It's fully scrunchable, the peak included, so you can just stick it in a pocket or screw it up and carry in your hand. Fits closely in a stretchy, snug sort of way, wicks well and gives you sun protection thanks to the peak. I use it for running and warm weather walking.

I’ve got a couple of lightweight baseball style (ish) caps, more for sun protection than sweat but they do a fine job with that too. One was a freebie in a race goody bag, the other is some running brand, maybe salomon.

Pouring water in/on helps with cooling, I wore it for the marathon recently in case the sun came out half way round. Which it didn’t. Kept the rain out of my eyes instead 🙂
