Most have you have probably not set foot in this part of the United Kingdom!

Most haven’t set foot in Palestine either, or appeared on Reality TV, or shagged anyone famous.

I’ve never set foot in NI. Republican terrorists/freedom fighters (delete as preferable) have deployed many very large explosive devices in my home town, during my lifetime. Often with devastating consequences.

And we’ve learned that British troops have been guilty of murder and other atrocious acts in NI.

So, can we not have an opinion on something that may actually affect our lives?

I’m sure that your opinion is correct JoeBones, because you live in NI. And as everyone knows, everybody who lives in NI has the same opinion – ie the correct one.

But perhaps, just maybe, all the rest of the people in the UK might also have an opinion about whether they wish to be part of the same country as NI. Or does only the opinions of people living in a small bit of the UK count ?

Doesn’t sound very patriotic to me.

    Ernie, your not getting me.

Of course many atrocities have taken place on the mainland, of course opinions matter I was merely pointing out the STW bandwagon.

druidH I beg to differ about the shagged famous remark. Do porn stars count because back in 99 I was in thi job where…long pub story.

    Ahem.

There is always going to be trouble by people who have hatred for no real reason.

Lets just sell weapons to both sides and let them kill each other if they can’t live with each other.

If both sides want peace there will be peace. I hope it doesn’t result in arms.

So are you saying we are not allowed to have an opinion when IRA terrorists turn out to be colluding with MI5 and the RUC then?

I can see where you are coming from and it is a complex issue, as are many similar sitations around the world.

I’ve shagged three Roman Irish Catholic girls- so you could say I have been into the subject/area at some depth OP.

Answer: because we are all intelligent,, well-informed people who make it our business to understand the complexities of national, international and religious politics worldwide.

Or, the same reason that the many N. irish think they know what the Westminster-based government should do when they’ve never set foot in London.

Except that (as I pointed out in the other post) the Northern Irish never get the chance to vote for the mainstream/mainland parties who might actually become the government (coalitions notwithstanding).

Do you mean Irish Catholic girls from Rome, or Roman Catholic girls from Ireland?

    Lads oh lads…

There are small minded people on both sides of the political battle in Ulster. You can’t please one lot without upsetting the other, which makes this a very difficult problem to solve.

If people want or need to learn more about the situation then this isn’t really the place for it.

I have. We rode up from Dublin (On motorbikes) thrugh NI to the north coast to Portrush to the NW 200. I though NI was a lovely place, great countyside, stunning coastline, friendly natives. I’ll go again some day.

I don’t comment on the political stuff though. They don’t bother me

Is Dungannon (amongst other SF bases I’ve spent time at) included as “this part of the United Kingdom“?

    G40? Bessbrook Mill? Omagh? Ballykelly?

I’ve been to NI. Lovely place, very green and leafy. Unfortunately I’m an atheist and don’t own/sell/shoot guns. Am I allowed an opinion?
