Childminder is having a room redecorated. The painters have rubbed that white cloudy paint all over the glass. Wife asked me why. I’m not sure. Only thing I can think of is to make it easier to see so they don’t put a ladder through the glass.

    Any other suggestions?

So they can skive? Or possibly more likely, so that their tools aren’t on show.

So if they get gloss on the glass its not directly on said glass and therefore a pita to remove?

No window dressing, curtains etc due to painting or wallpapering. So it’s for privacy?

    Isn’t in Windolene?

Reasons above are valid also you can’t be leaving blinds/curtains up whilst decorating.

In a commerical premises its to effectively keep the interior under wraps until they’re ready to open to the public. I’ve rarely seen it done in domestic properties but to allow privacy for the homeowners at night would make sense – the whitewash still lets working light through and in hot / sunny weather it stops the room getting too hot for working in

Or is it cleverer, perhaps it diffuses sunlight so you don’t get shadows etc when trying to decorate.

So they can draw smiley faces in it.

If they advise you to leave the house due to fumes they’re probably setting up a meth lab.

If they advise you not to enter the room due to fumes they’re probably making porn.

If none of the above they’re probably doing what those ^ guys said.

It’s so the neighbours can see “she’s got the painters in”.

So they can have a **** in peace and piss in the sink without beady eyed stream stoppers. Former Painter/Decorator/Alcoholic, why are all Painter/Decorators big time piss cans? is it the mind blowing job?

I thought it was windolene too.

I’ve always used windolene cream in the pink bottle.

Means nobody can nosey into the place and look for tools to steal at night etc, and also as cleaning the windows is the last thing you do before leaving, it makes that a nice easy job because it stops the dirt created during the work caking itself onto the glass.
