My crudcatcher fouls the front shifter cable; this wouldnt be a problem if it was the outer only but its the inner – anyone recommend a front mudguard that will work – I'm thinking one of these fork/bung mount things – they look awful but still better than being wet and cold

I never had a problem putting a crud catcher on my 575…….. 😕

Neogaurd/inner tube in your forks, assuming you've got "normal" forks with a brake arch.

You'll be amazed how much of a difference it makes if you've never used one. I don't bother with crud catchers anymore as it's only really the stuff that hits your face that's the problem.

    imho 🙂

I thought the latest crud catchers had little rubber spacers to avoid this problem?

FWIW on Sunday in the Peaks, which was more like rafting than biking – pissflap + crud catcher = dry face. Impressively so actually.

I'm very impressed by the Bender Fender, made and sold by Mucky Nutz. £7. Fits neatly under the arch of the fork. Looks cool and is very neat too in my opinion. It works brilliantly, stopping water and mud flicking up from the front wheel. It also stops mud collecting around the bottom of the stanchions and seals, something other guards don't do as far as I know.

jOnEdward – mines an old one but little rubber spacers glued on propbably would work – might try that before ordering one of those that Dezb shows – funny enough I was just looking at that on CRC for £8

Would prefer to get my crud catcher and beef curtain combo sorted tho – so gonna try an innertube spacing bodge
    Cheers

My old Stumpjumper had cable runs like that, I did spacer the crud off and it was fine, I didnt spacer the crud off, and it was still ok even if the cables rubbed on it.

Use a Cycraguard thing which is like a crudcatcher but with rubber spacers here[/url]. I use it with a Mucky Nutz fender bender, and it really is the best combination – more effective than a steerer mounted guard and you get total protection.

The new Gonzo the Great mudguard from Crud which attaches to the bars is a superb piece of kit, IMO. Coupled with a normal Crud Catcher on the downtube, works really well.
