Which chain other than Shimano = chain fail content

Having had a not very old XTR chain fail on tonights ride. Which Sram chain should I go for and any deals anywhere ?

well just had a fairly new SRAM PC951 fail on me last weekend 😥

Fail how? Why not stick a powerlink in?

HG93s running perfect for last several years. Only replaced when they have worn out.

Hmmm I would agree the chain was shortened and re-joined with the correct pin. Went as was just into a steep pull but had shifted before hand and not under load.

I've always got on with KMC chains.

Always use sram and never had an issue although I only weigh 11 stone and tend not to break things anyway.

The last chain I broke was in 1994 on a Halfords Carrera – I think it was a dodgy chain for me – me thinks 🙂

riding tonight – mate snapped a new seam chain – not on join – side plate gave way….

i always use hg73/93 – gave up on sram…

We dont break chains with two large folk jumping on the pedals in granny gear on the tandem We blow up hubs under teh load but not chains

I'd say something similar, apart from the fact that between us 3 we've not used nearly enough chains to provide any sort of standard of proof that they're not sometimes faulty. I'd suspect that the majority of chain failures are down to user error, but perfectly willing to accept they do occasionally fail despite proper installation.

I miss the threads of old where a chain brand was judged on how much of a pickle the rider had been left in when it broke (20 miles from home in winter etc)

KMC for me from now on.
