As above. Going to be staying a couple of nights for work.

Yes, I’ve heard of Google and Trip Advisor, but where’s the fun in that, eh?

    Where are you staying?

Not much in the Town Centre really, middlebrook has your usual Frankie & Bennies, nando’s etc

Worth the hassle of heading into Manchester?

quite limited inthe town centre, rice and three is cheap and cheerful indian food , theres a tapas or pizza express ,other than that the ” hen and chicks” pub on deansgate does good pub food as well as good beer

Stay away from the Town Centre. Its a shithole.

The Victoria Inn on Markland Hill is good, Thomas Egerton also Ok.

personally I would avoid the King Bill.

As said you have a train on your doorstep.
If you like your beer & food how about getting the train to Entwistle (1 stop north) or driving & going to the Strawbury Duck[/url]. If you do beware that not all trains stop at Entwistle & also it is a request stop so you have to tell the driver or guard that you want to get off. If you drive go via Edgworth not the road over Entwistle Dam – that is 4×4 or MTBs only.

There’s a fantastic restaurant called the Yew Tree Inn in Anglezarke, you probably will have to book but the food is second to none.

+1 for Nicks, doesnt look much from the outside but the food is fantastic. He’s a neighbour of an ex work colleague and we went last year when she left our place, never had such a good night.

The Restaurant in the Last Drop itself isn’t bad actually.

If you fancy a trip out though, The Wilton on Belmont Rd is worth a wee drive.

Or if you like a curry, head up into Darwen.

The Strawbury Duck is OK, but not great.

There’s an Italian Olives Bistro & Wine Bar (used to be the Spread Eagle) in the bottoms on the way to Edgworth – was OK 20 years ago, don’t know what it’s like now.

ps don’t be tempted by the shortcut down Haydock Lane unless you are in a Defender 😀

I’ve not been to Nicks in ages, but last time I went, you had to book a week or so in advance.
