I have an old air rifle I haven’t used for ages which I want to flog but you can’t list these on gumtree/ebay. Where do people sell these now? Local shop window/newspaper ad? Is there a specialist air gun website classifieds section people use? Presume also I’ll need to make sure the buyer collects and check, if they look young, they are over 18 by seeing ID. The gun was bog standard and not over the 12 ft lb legal limit for power. Any tips appreciated. Cheers

I’ve used Guntrader[/url] with reasonably good results, there’s a one-off fee to list, but there seem to be a lot of people using it.

Section 32 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 only applies to air weapons sold by way of trade or business – As such there is no requirement for the sale/transfer of an air weapon to be face to face – you are perfectly OK posting it.

Lots of air gun selling groups on Facebook. I’ve shifted three of mine on there.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll check out the sites. It’s an Air Arms S200 pump up type with nice Simmons scope, had it from new about 15 years ago I think. Trouble is I went to use it the other day after not for ages and it seems to not hold pressure now when you pump it up (maybe a seal gone?), makes a little phut and I now suspect there is a pellet stuck in the barrel. The gun shop quoted some ridiculous figure to fix it so this, and because I generally can’t be bothered, means I was just going to flog it needing to be looked at and repaired. I will ask the gun shop to buy/value it but I suspect they’ll make some daft offer saying it’s old, busted and not worth anything – I would rather test the market elsewhere too, to see if I can get a tad more for it. I know it’s probably like old used bikes you are attached to, you probably think they are worth more than they really are…

It probably needs a dam good service and seal kit.
Possible value when done depending on condition @ £220 looking at AirgunBBS site.
I will offer £115 if you fancy posting? @ £15

I repair airguns for a couple of shops and I was going to value it at what bear-uk has offered, maybe a bit more depending on what Simmons scope it is.

The shop wanted £80 just to look at it, plus whatever parts, plus vat etc
The scope says 3-9 x 50. The pump says RWS on it. I have to admit I haven’t looked after it as well as I probably should, it’s just been stood in a cupboard gathering dust for ages. Thing is I do secretly still want an air rifle for occasional use but I think a pump up one isn’t suited, maybe just a budget underlever or break barrel I can just leave and forget about for ages. Here’s the Air Arms:

Thanks for the offer ^, I’ll have a think

Offer is about right for rifle and you’d probably get about £60-80 for the pump.
The shop price is probably not far off the mark for repairs, it’d probably end up at about the £130 mark. I’d probably charge one of my shops about £60 and if it doesn’t need a filling valve about £40 and I warranty them for a year.
It just depends on what you find when you take them apart.
