what happened to Tinkerbelle?

Managed to go to a couple of Thetford Yuletide rides 2002 / 2003 – one organised by Grueller who appears occasionally. Bez turned up at one with JoB and few others from the south coast.

Never felt up to meeting for a proper hilly ride – no fun in being the fat, wheezy bloke holding everyone up!

Drac – we met, oh 2003? Rode in the Cheviots with you & TimC, you on your old Rockhopper, me on a black Sub5 if that helps. My wife still laughs about it today – "you and two fit blokes" as she likes to say.

The good old days, when you didn't need an account to post- just post as anon. Not sure how that'd go down now, mind.

It was worse than that, though, wasn't it? You could post under any old name, even if someone else was using it too, couldn't you? It could be pretty anarchic, especially if Dan or Beer were on a thread, but if I'm remembering that right then I'm surprised it wasn't worse than it was.

I think I first arrived in 2002, after Googling for information on Hope Minis. I think I lurked for a long while before posting. I've always used ChrisL as my name.

One of my earliest posts was "things I have learnt from the STW forum". Amongst the things I had learnt were:

I used to use MTB Wales a lot and they were forever slagging this place off, so I came and lurked a bit then started posting, cant remember my name before the hacking incident. That is quite disturbing.

Funny thing is what the MTB Wales lot said about here being cliquey and arrogant summed them up perfectly 🙂

Um. It might not have been Chipps. That was TomL's fault really as he had to pay 'nipping off to bed' Tax in the form of Cask Strength Whiskey. What happened after that we cannot be held responsible for (PiersB fell of the wagon I know that!)

This is stirring memories. I used to ride a bit and post the odd comment.

Poor Chris has back problems now and doesn't ride he misses it.

I'm still in touch with agony aunt, she left after the flak she got when she outed 42 when he sent her the "without Lycra" photos, she now manages her two daughters glamour modelling career

@BillyWhizz – I'm still here, just been quiet for the last 6 months as been having a junior, so now I'm back at work i can obviously kill my productivity on here again 🙂

Hi SST – still miss it, but summer is on it's way and the little one keeps me happy and smiling so have definite reason's for hanging around 😉

The "42" pictures involved keys in inappropriate orifices…Truly a disturbed individual. I rode with him a couple of times, and he was just as random IRL. Myself and a couple of others invented Emily Green over on BM to properly wind him up.

if i remember correctly Rob the whisky was a prize that Tom won for some singletrack competition. It makes sense that Chipps had to get it back as i doubt they could afford more than one bottle of whisky per year.

still here but dont have much to contribute these daysm still riding but not as much as back then, redundant at the end of this year and hoping to do a lot more riding from then on, this thread made me smile a lot remembering all the folks from back then
