Built 2 BMX’s, sold 2 16″ boys bikes, serviced a 20″ kids bike, fitted an Answer direct mount stem and 780 bars, and moved about 35 bikes from where they were before, to where they are now.

    Brilliant day…

My only day off this week and a busy non-biking weekend ahead so braved the rain to go check out some steep woods about half an hour away that I’ve not ridden before. A bit of exploring, got soaked to the skin and ripped the arse out of my waterproof shorts on my saddle (a replacement for which should have turned up by now). End result, a couple of amazing steep, rooty, rocky evil trails added to the collection. Jobs a goodun.

Just a 9km ride to try out the rebuild of the old winter bike in the rain. Bike seems good, my fitness has vanished must ride more once I get back from the USA. Wife and baby permitting.

just the usual 74 mile commute with ( and i dont understand this) a shitty headwind on the way in and a shittier headwind on the back. Hows does that happen ( it put half an hour onto my total journey time 🙁 )

No cycling for me this week since getting wiped out and getting a bit injured by a knobber on a mountain bike at Milton Keynes city centre but bought myself a GT Fueler BMX frame and forks and a Brian Rourke Dedacciai hardtail frame both as future projects.

I collected & fit the Answer AM protaper bars I snagged from CRC in a deal, booked the accom for Saturday night for me & the boy to take in a couple of trails at C-y-B.

Next on the list is to decide whether its SS or geared for C-y-B with m’kid….?

Nothing on the bike yesterday, or today. But this:

I have been running instead, down the water of leith to Stockbridge and back again. 9km with no shin pain, yay! :))

inspired me to go out for a run even though the weather was foul. It was great!

Rode to work, rode home again. More like 11 miles than 74, though. Blimey. Is that every day, RDA?

Got very wet on the way back. Maybe the shoes will be dry for Monday, maybe they won’t.

well 5 of my working day week, yes its hard, yes today i felt like giving up and driving and yes i do regularly get quite tired, but……………………

When i’m doing it and get to the other end its worthwhile ( although Edinburgh city traffic is pish poor )

Push bike: I put the front mech on and the master cylinder of the front brake on.
Motorbike: put the front end up, removed the fork, the speedo/tachometre assembly, removed the airbox, the foot pegs, the rear brake, tag all the wireloom and start to remove it.

Today was better than yesterday (see 24 hours ago).

I was set for the 22 mile e/w commute but wimped out whilst stood in the kitchen in my kit at 06.20am. The wind / rain / sore knee combo just wasn’t doing it for me.

Compromise: hard half hour roadie blast, back for a shower, breakfast with Mrs gtth, drive to work. It was a monsoon when I got there, so felt slightly vindicated by my decision.

Tomorrow? Early ride on the proper bike before ‘normal persons weekend duties’. 😈

re-jigged my rotor Q ring to a different position to hopefully make 1 gear even faster with less thigh owies. Also discovered that my 29er frame was a blatant rip off (Heavily inspired by) a wolfhound frame. So that’ll be the explanation for the odd bendy tubes then 😆

Tonight was a huge milestone for me but really a pretty straight forward night time off road ride after some broken bones. Six weeks healing and things still niggling a bit but overall – Im nearly there. Yeeeee Haw!

Need some new goals now to get back on track. Im surprised how the legs havent really lost it!

had a nice 3+ hour ride locally(ish) which incorperated some of the Mary Townley Loop)..crickey its so muddy/slippery out there aint now after all this rain.. rode alot of grassy tracks today which had obviously turned to a gloopy slodgy mud bath out there…geez back to gloopiness then (need to get a decent rear tyre with thick tread on cos i was slipping around alot today (Lol)..

Very excited as Mrs Ononeorange rode a demo Santa Cruz Juliana and loved it (we went to Swinley for the first time which was great). She was so happy and was riding so well on it that we’ve ordered one and now can’t wait!

Ha ha , i done exactly the same this morning at 4:50am. Stood naked in the bathroom staring at the wall for 5 minutes trying to convince myself that cycling was a good idea. Anyway 37 miles later, i arrived warm and hungry at work via bike. Left work about 4pm, got another crappy headwind and torrential rain before getting the other 37 miles in.

Watched the womens road race at 4.30, then spent the rest of the day building a bomb proof bike shed (13″ thick concrete block walls!) for a fellow stwer.

Attempted the impossible climb – failed, but it seems theoretically possible at least. Nice chat with the fairmer who was complaining about people nicking car batteries from his electric fences! Around Stockhill and the minery, then a muddy, pointless explore before returning home. Oh and I picked up some balls to re-build my Deore hub.

Had to resort to the turbo yesterday, boo hiss! An hour of intervals.

Then 3 hours on the MTB today, lots of standing water, a bit gay really!

Trailbuilding at glentress (pretty much all barrowing, not much fun but neccesary, new black section coming along nicely) then a short-ish and slightly frustrating knackered ride after, up the hill, down the blue, then broon troot and finishing on the red. Some riding good, some riding poor… But did tell me that the mmmbop should be a keeper now it’s the right size.
