Live life! take drugs, drink as much as you want, smoke what you want and sleep with whoever will have you. You have less control over the path of your life than everyone tells you, so just make the most of it.

Don’t study engineering. You’ll hate it and never work as an engineer.

    Drink more in high school.

    Drink Less at uni.

Ditch clipless pedals sometime in the summer of 2006, otherwise you’ll spend the next 2 years barely able to walk after the f****** things break on a rock mid decent.

Ride in the mornings more you lazy git.

A car will hurt you when it hits you, the road will hurt you when you hit it and hospital food isn’t nice. Now you know these things there’s no need to find out for yourself, so check and fix the brakes on that bike.

How did your clipless pedals break tinas?

Mashed it into a rock and the binding doodahhs got a bit smashed up.

Couldnt then clip in or even get weight on the pedals

    Couldnt then get weight back

    picked the closest soft landing

went off a medium sized drop

dont remember crashign but do remember using my head as a brake, losing most of the skin off my arms and legs, then riding home slowly only for my knee to swell up to 5x it’s normal size and not get better for a loooooonnnnggggggg time.

I’m not sure really as I think I was more mature when I was 15!
    I didn’t drink
    I didn’t smoke.
I rode my bike every day.
I was fit as a butchers dog.
    I was doing well racing.
    I worked hard.
    I was careful with money.

    32 years later
    I drink to much.
    I still don’t smoke.
I’m lucky to ride my bike once a week
    I’m clapped out and fat
My pulse is the only thing that races these days
    I’m still working hard
    I waste money

I’d tell myself that Uni is indeed a good thing and to go when offered a place………….. took me 30 years to rectify that mistake 😥

Don’t worry so much, it’s all going to work out fine in the end.

Oh and keep your Breezer locked up properly even if it’s got no brake pads on it, you stupid ****, it’s much nicer than the Marin you’ll end up with if you don’t.

When later you’ll be at uni, and your student all hot cheek gives you a massage and you offer one back at her, don’t just kiss her on the cheeks and get back to your room once it’s done. Try something a bit more adventurous 😉

Don’t bother with medicine or biochemistry, but do spend a lot more time learning about these “computer” things. They are not just for playing games on, so learn how to code and do Computer Science at uni. It will be worth it in the end.

Oh, and don’t start smoking. It’s not worth it.

We’re all quite hard on ourselves arent we?

Actually I’d tell my 15yo self not to be so hard on himself and lighten up a bit (as well as manning the flip up).

And to go home with **** ***** that time of course.

I managed. I must be the only person who found O levels really hard, A levels pretty difficult, and a degree* a piece of piss.

*And no, it wasn’t in Budgie Studies at Watford College of Lower Education……

Yeah, but it was an arts degree wasn’t it? Am I right or am I right?

I found Os fairly straightforward (apart from the ones I had to remember stuff), As rather easier, and my degree was hard work.

I’d tell myself to have a bit more confidence and actually ask out that beautiful girl who smiles at you (not naming names – it happened more than once) – not that I’d listen.

    just had a thought – this….

    desiderata – by max ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

    Max Ehrmann c.1920

I know my 15 yo self would have told me where to put that but heck, my 43 yo self knows just a tiny little bit better than that 😉

Don’t bother wasting two years trying to sleep with Wendy, in thirteen years time you’ll meet her at a house party and actually will…and it’ll be rubbish.

Also, Pop Will Eat Itself are not the best band in the world. They’re not even the best band in Stourbridge.
