What tyres for Swinley Forrest?

Appologies to begin with, but I don’t have a clue and not that many tyres. Out of the following which one would you choose and why?
[*]Continental Twister Pro 1.9 quite worn,
Intense System 4 2.25 very little use,
Michelin DH Mud little use.[/*]

The 2.25s should be fine, as it’s not rained for a bit, and should be fairly dry. Not too much mud round Swinley.

I’m not that familiar with any but on the basis that swinley will still be hard and dry you won’t want muds; after that I’d say the fatter would be better for the roots you will find there.

Isn’t the conti almost a semi slick?

Stick the big fat Intenses on, you’ll be fine.

The surface is rock hard at the moment.
Last weekend I thought I’d stick some Michelin Dry’s on as I didn’t get to use them in the summer.
Loads of grip and fast as f#<?

Doesn’t really matter at Swinley. The mud is rarely deep, just a little slow rolling under foot. I don’t notice much difference between running a dh tyre or any generic xc tyre. Nothing is steep or challenging grip wise and only a few trails that require more than light braking. Most corners are lightly bermed.

I’m using Maxxis Swamp Things 2.35, needed for some of the mulchy ground off the normal trails.

I hadn’t even thought about tyres.
Ive got some round black ones with knobbles on, will they do?

I was told by a bloke in LBS I need Maxxis Swamp-somethings. Heck, if it’s freezing I’ll be on semislicks, otherwise large but light-ish Intense.

BTW In order to look like a real STW member (sic!) do I allign the logos or do I pretend I don’t care? Am I allowed so-called cool dustcaps? Can I shave? Any other serious[/u][/i] things to consider? 😛

Shaving is a good idea, because if you mash your face, it will be easier to clean all the bits of grit out of the wound.

Serious things? Bring pasties and food, because the cafe is woeful, and really expensive. I shall be stocking up at Clacket Lane services, me. Ginster-tastic!

The cafe does some ok sarnies, and a bit of ok hot food, but the portions are small, prices are silly, and it’s definitely not good vfm, in my humble opinion. Even a cup of tea’s over a quid. Plus, if you order hot food, you will wait for ages before you get it.

Sorry, that cafe is not run that well. If there was any competition around, they’d go out of business pretty quick.

I may bring something prawny. Not sure yet.

Rudeboy – as I said at the time, the slow service was unusual. I must defend the Cafe, they are geared up for serving loads of people and do seem to cope very well. There is a good choice of hot food which certainly looks quite substantial. The portions of cake are enormous, in other words man-sized!

I don’t reckon their prices are high, not compared with QEP for example.

Would also mention that I have used the Cafe quite a few times over the years and my experience has always been good except for that one occasion.

C_G, is it ‘cos you’re a lady and Rude Boy isn’t?

I most definitely consider myself a lady but others probably/definitely call me something different 😈
