What Suit Carrier….

I’m looking for a suit carrier that’ll hold a couple of suits and shirts, mainly for travel in this country but at times I’ll be expected to go abroad. Any suggestions for ones that won’t leave everything creased?

Very 90s – I’ve given up and just fold my shirts properly, place in cabin bag and iron at the other end.

I’m interested in this. What is de riguer business travel protocol nowadays? Presuming most of us just go blazer, shirts, smart jeans/chinos, shoes (one pair) for both day and night. All in one cabin case to avoid baggage stowing?

OP,  I have a rollup suit carrier from Delsey  (la Defense,  don’t think it’s made any more.

It sits gathering dust. As above, everything in one bag, then iron on arrival. The exception is Hong Kong, where I have all my shirts ironed on arrival as it’s so cheap!

I have never worn a suit on an Africa trip and haven’t worn a tie for over 20 years. The universal tropical business attire is a decent long-sleeved shirt, nice trousers and decent shoes.

Yes, nice lightweight travel suit carefully folded. Hang up on arrival, iron if required but it usually doesn’t need it.

Ive got an antler suit carrier, like others ive stopped using it for travel abroad and just have s big hardcase with compartments.

still use it in the uk though, just means i can chuck the other stuff in a duffle bag, stops me looking like your typical rep with a suit and a few shirts hanging up in the rear window….

Hang up on arrival

On arrival, turn the shower on full blast and full heat. Close bathroom door. Get it nice and steamy. Then, hang suit in the steam while you step out of the hotel for a refreshing beverage or five.

The steam helps loosen out any major creases.

Yep used the shower trick when the hotel ends up having no iron!!

I got a bit Antler one from their outlet shop at the Lowry, enough for a 3-4 days if you need it and on wheels, they did plenty of smaller ones. Perfect for driving trips in the UK and would probably use it for a short pure business trip on a plane.

They were still reasonably popular in Oz as you could get some good hand luggage sized ones that held enough for a 2-3 day trip.

But when it’s a case I go with the rolling method for packing which tends to work really well over folding.

Me too. I usually have to wear a suit for an early morning trip to Europe and then put the shirts in the shower to steam out the wrinkles. Put all in a big not too full bag.

Shower method works even better if it’s an over the bath shower – use the shower to fill the bath, more steam for longerer meaning even less crumples.

Does anyone use a garment folder sleeve thingy to neatly fold/ store suits in your bag whilst travelling?

I often travel in my jeans & t-shirt the day before a client meeting then have to dress up for  formal meetings the  following day.

I use a very thin flexible plastic chopping mat (maybe 1mm thick, came in a pack of 3) from a supermarket which is a good size to fold a shirt around. I then put the shirt(s) into a packing cube (much cheapness from decathlon) then into my bag. Works fine for me, just use the hot shower/steam method when I get to a hotel.

You disappoint me again, I assumed you would have had your favourite tailor waiting at the airport with the new “CF collection”

And as for a suit carrier I thought you would have answered “why my valet of course”

HK tailors aren’t the bargain they used to be,  trading on past reputation for the most part .

I find that the steamy bathroom approach takes quite a long time and it always worries me that a lot of energy has been used to heat that water, only for me to pour it down the plughole without using it.

I use one for shirts, don’t wear suits anymore so can’t comment on those.
