Look at a new SS steel frame, as i just sold my Kona Exlosif as i needed something abit bigger.
Had my eye on a Genesis IO
not sure what my other choices are, looking to spend about £250 max for about a 19″, have even considered using a tensioner but would prefure sliding drop outs or similar.

    Cheers Steve

Love/Hate? I really like the EBB and vertical dropout solution.

Another vote for Io,got 1 cheap in the sales yr/2 ago and liked it so much I bought an Altitude too. Not totally sure about this year’s colour -looks lot better in the flesh though.

If you find a few extra pounds down the back of the sofa then the Decade Virtue frames are lovely.

If an 18 in Kona unit frame would suit I know where there is a spotless one going S/H very soon (literally only ridden once) Mail me for details, TR

BTW, if you want a new one, I have a love/Hate and it’s my favouritest bike of all, even nicerer than my old Indy fab SS, and that’s lovely 😀

Another vote for the Io – I bought a 16″ frame only back in April last year, and it’s the bike I ride the most now out of the four I own. Truly great frame. 100mm MXCs or 115mm Rebas suit it well.

Is the Genesis IO 530 or 853?

I love my old kona cindercone converted to SS through a tensioner which is a pain TBH…would a second hand decent steel frame be an option if you are on a budget?

Can we widen the debate – which is the best chain tensioning method – slidey drop out, EBB or chain tensioner?

and what about cotic simple or is that too expensive?

530 i think, would be open 2 2nd hand, specialy if theres a orange p7 ss out there some where could match my clockwork then lol, but would like something new treat myself before the wedding day :P, think the Cotics pushing it on price unless theres a good 2nd hand.

Widden the thread away of open a new one,

Frame is Reynolds 520 which apparently is generic Taiwanese cro-moly (nowt wrong with that mind)-they did do a Reynolds 725 frame only model originally which is rather nice heat treated cro-moly from yer actual Reynolds UK. Still kicking myself didn’t buy one,LBS had one reduced to £150 in my size too…

It sure does. £1 =$1.46 now compared to $1.92 last summer.

Love/Hate is still priced well though considering the Mk2 has a more expensive head tube, dropouts and powder coat and all frames will come with the more expensive Phil Wood Relieved EBB as standard.

Pre-order offer will be closed on 30th April.

I’ve had my Genesis io for a couple of months now and it’s ridiculously good fun for the money! Handling is spot-on. 🙂

Think its going to be the Genesis iO found 1 a lil bit cheaper 😛 and free shipping :D, unless anything comes up 2nd hand that takes my fancy

Will a wheel with a single speed conversion fit on the back of the genesis?

Or you could get a bolt in Hope Pro II Trials hub.

That Genisis frame seems a bargain price at the mo.
