I thought I would order a long cage, triple front – normal spread of 9 speed cassette. I understand short cage might be for double chain ring, but super long cage????

did you see this on CRC?
saw last evening this exact same thing
they call the xt mechs long cage and super long cage
but in reality there are only 2 options,
short and long, or GS and SGS,

Super long cage or SGS is a normal length mech, What most triple ring chainsets use.

Long cage or GS is basically a mid cage mech and can only be used on dual ring chainsets with a max of approx. 38 tooth ring (Depends on mech i think).

At least thats what i think?!

Oh bother, yes I was hoping for a CRC bargain- just before potential price rise. So SGS or super long cage I need then.

    ?????
it probably came in GS short cage version aswell
edit; crc have their wording all mixed up, just look for GS or SGS,
    forget short, long, super long

    as i understand basically,
SGS is for triple set ups,
GS are for double or single

SGS – long/super long – normally for triple set ups
GS – medium – normally for double set ups or suitable triple set ups (like compact road.
SS – short – normally for road doubles but also DH with singles.
