What do you do with your phone when you're riding?

Wonder if it will get a GPS signal for Strava shoved up there? 😀

Anyway, me… pocket, turn off wifi, gps, bluetooth and mobile data. Used for emergencies (hence turn everything off to keep battery life) and getting calls/texts asking where you are. GPS is done on my Garmin.

Samsung Xcover 2 is down to £105 now unlocked. Waterproof & shockproof and very good GPS. Just throw mine in the top pocket of pack. Does just fine up there, whatever the weather

Leave it in my breast pocket, unzipped, then wonder why its not there when I get home…..Doh! If anyone finds an iPhone 4 in a ditch somewhere near Leeds Bradford Airport you can have it. My new iPhone 6 (get me!) lives in an Overboard dry bag in my firmly zipped up pocket.

In my pocket. Occasionally if it’s chucking it down, I’ll use the furry waterproof pocket in my camel bak.

Mines in one of these S-line cases, with a clear screen protector on the front, has taken loads of drops with no damage. Doesnt add a great deal of size, but the grip alone is worth it…

Its then in the top Dakine Nomad pocket with Strava recording the ride.

On the MTBs – In a freezer bag for waterproofing, in the top pocket of my Osprey

Always set to vibrate only. Amusingly, after a recent big crash at Cwm Carn, all I could think as I lay on the ground was, “I wonder who’s calling me?” as I could feel it vibrating in the top pocket!

On road/grrravel, I now sync my phone to my Garmin, so I see if anyone important is calling. Set to only show people for whom I’d be willing to stop a ride, and there aren’t many of them.

Leave it at home.

I leave my Galaxy at home; it’s too precious to risk losing or breaking.

I have a pay as you go phone I got from Carphone Warehouse for £2.99. It’s only ever rung once and my buddy and I thought we were being followed by a helicopter or something so I didn’t answer it. It goes in a plastic sleeve in my jersey pocket with some coffee money.

Anyway there’s no network in a lot of the Ribble Valley and Bowland Fells.

Mines in my pocket, I know if I drop it as the music stops. If im expecting to wade i put it in one of those super duper ziplock bags but cant use headphones then.

If it’s just a short ride, it goes in the back pocket of my TLD Skylines with the foam padding.

If I’ve got a pack, then it goes in the top pocket behind my neck with bubble wrap round it.

Lost one from a camel back pocket that never stayed shut somewhere on the Alp d’heuz glacier another smashed further down on an OTB indecent. Since then I take a bit more care packing them screen side in. Got some waterproof pockets made from thicker frameskin material that I get for nowt that I use if it’s damp which it rarely is.

In one of Beerbabe’s recycled inner tube cases. Velcro shut, waterproof enough unless I jump in a lake and crash protection too as it’s a thick rubber bumper.

SIM question:

Can you have two SIM’s (in two different phones) both on the same number?

So, leave your expensive one somewhere safe, and take a cheapo riding??

No each sim has one number, you could forward your calls from the main phone to the second one when you are out though but you would be calling back from your other number.

You couldnt ask your provider for a same number SIM?
