“They had some association with Aston Martin, but without researching can’t remember what.”
They were a 2.8 special, like a 2.8i but with a limited slip diff, stiffer anti-roll bars and shocks. Tickford, who were Aston’s coachbuilders and tuning shop took standard 2.8 specials, stuck a turbo in them to give 125 /155 / or 175 bhp, retrimmed the interior in full conolly hide, built a couple of extra consoles in, fitted a decent exhaust and tyres.
Many of them were fitted with that bloody awful bodykit, and front grille that caused the motor to overheat almost instantly. A very small percentage of them left Tickford without the body kit and just the mechanical and interior mods done. I own one of the latter un-bodykitted ones in black with the 175 turbo bhp kits and it’s absolutely hilarious in the snow.
