I removed the bearings from Hope XC hubs with a drift, i.e. a length of metal rod.

Remember to remove the circlip from inside the freehub before trying to drift out the bearings 😳

no lip for a drift on the campag wheels hence the need for a puller

The rrp will not work on the campag wheels, there is nothing for it to push against.

I need on with the thin lips that hook over the edge of the inner race

    Suggestions?

Ask papa lazarou if he got the kit in this thread, if it contains a puller?

Just as an FYI for me, am I right in saying you need something like the 3 arm hub / gear extractors to pull the bearing out from one side?

Nope he’s after something like this

Great as long as the bearing stays together, need to makesure you pull the hammer straight or the outer race will get stuck and the inner race will explode 😳

    I agree with Jon

do you have one I could borrow?/ bring the wheel around to yours?

bit of heat on the hub shell beforehand to free the outer race/expand the hub a bit – as above you can end up just pulling the inner race and the bearings out.

Good thing about above tool is if bearing does explode one of the larger collets will grip the outer, where do you live big n daft?

Much cheaper option, tighten the bolt up till it’s nice & tight, then tap out with a drift. This method has never failed for me..

Am I right in saying that that’s a slide hammer, and you’re wanting to to use it as a blind hole puller? – I was looking at stuff like this a few months back but couldn’t quite get my head around the terminology.

Something like this Clarke set – http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cht251-10-pce-slide-hammer-puller-set?

Sure we can arrange a time for you to bring the wheel over. Shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes (if nothing goes wrong 😯 )
