I am looking to change to the rear shock on a Pitch, what are the credible alternatives to an RP23 or Push’d RP23 that I should consider if any, looked at the RS Monarch.

Or should I just play safe and go RP23?

Rp23 with correct compression an rebound setting (not pushed)

The Lecht Rocks will be along in a minute to tell you about the ‘mid stroke blow through’ or something on the Monarch and why it isn’t any good…

DT Swiss shock? I’ve got a an XM180 on my Nicolai, and it seems pretty good, although doesn’t have ‘pro-pedal’ equivalent damping (the Nic doesn’t need it).

Thanks guys not sure I know the bike well enough to see if pro-pedal is a real need or not it does need to be 200×57.

mr frosty – out of interest why do you say not push’d?

Looking forward to any Monarch comments never ridden on one. I do get the feeling that the RP is probably the preferred option still.

I’ve got a Pitch Pro with an RP2 shock.
I’m assuming you’ve got a Comp model with the more basic (X Fusion?) shock?
The RP2 is all the bike will ever need, if you can get one of those then I suggest you do, because it’ll be a bit cheaper. All the RP23 has extra is 2 more propedal settings, and all you’ll do is choose one of them and leave it at that, then turn it on and off. That’s what I did on my previous bike.
Do make sure you get the right compression and rebound tune when you get it though. Mine has medium compression and light rebound, if you want to know!
    :o)

And yes, the Propedal is useful.

Yes I’ve got a comp with the X-Fusion no Pro’s left when I bought, so need to make some mods (some done) to make it the spec I wanted. I’d get the more basic RP3 but it doesn’t come in the corrent size after market, think RP2 is just for Specialized so might be a long wait.

I think I will get a standard RP23 and be done with it.

In fairness when I had a RP on the Five I set it once and didn’t change it much.

Looks like you could get a Float R aftermarket, but it is £100 cheaper – could be worth considering if Mojo or TFT will custom tune it for you. Doesn’t appear to be available in too many sizes compared to the RP23 though.
