Yep, quality ride into work today – 25 miles to work and back, 2/3rds off road, skirting Dartmoor. Passed by a local lake today and watched the orange spread across the eastern skyline, pine trees silhouetted around me and geese coming in to land, honking as they splashed down in the semi-dark.
Mouthpiece kept freezing up on the camelbak, and I could see the steam pouring off me when I finally got to the roads and stopped at a junction.
GFs first ride into work with me today, she was so hyped about how amazing everything looked, and the growing light revealed just how white everything was, and how long she’d waited to actually start commuting in. I kind of felt spoiled by the fact that I’ve seen this for weeks now. Note to self: never forget how amazing my part of the world is at 07.00 on a clear winter’s morning.
Then it was on to the "urban" part of the ride – kids on their way to school making siren noises at us as we passed (both exposure joysticks set to rapid flashing) and the usual lorry driver w***ers blocking off the bike lane cos they don’t want us passing them on the inside whilst they’re stuck in a traffic jam. Usual hand signals given to them to pass on my best wishes.
Back to reality, eh?!
