Off to a mates party on Saturday and I’d like to take a couple of watermelon full of vodka. I’ve never tried doing this before so if anyone’s got any tips or suggestions feel free to impart them.

I’ve never done it either, but I’d have thought you’d need to leave it for days to soak through. Might be a bit short notice?

From what I’ve read a couple of days should [hopefully] do it.

have you tried vodka jelly babies too? stick a load in a tupperware box, soak em in vodka, stick em in the fridge for a day and take em out with a cocktail stick when you want one.

We tried it at uni using the professional advice of Jamie Oliver after watching one of his TV programmes.

We used a funnel, cut a hole in the skin like he suggested, whacked a funnel in & filled it with vodka.

Nothing happened. The level of vodka remained constant over several days & the watermelon refused to absorb it.
Pretty logical really, I suppose as the watermelon flesh is already saturated.
We ended up slicing the watermelon & ‘marinating’ it in vodka by laying the slices on a baking tray & liberally pouring the vodka over it.
Vodka jelly was much more successful.

I’ve never had such a hellish hangover as I did after a night that included jelly shots

I really thought about getting myself to hospital

    Good luck! 😀

Yeah I tried it last year for a party we had and again I thought it a waste of time. Didn’t try the jelly as it would have been too tempting for the kids, the jelly babies sound disgusting.

In the end the watermellon went in the bin along with a bottle and a half of vodka (i so couldn’t be bothered with saving any of it)

Did it a few years ago but with honey dew. It needed a week to soak in.

Cut a hole in the top. Stick a knife (only a thin one) through the to get to the pips and slice them up a bit. Tip over and shake to get the pips out. Stab the flesh a bit too.
Stick in a funnel and fill up. It will take a while for it to soak in but over the week you’ll need to top it up several times.

When its party time, slice up and enjoy. We were smashed…….big time!! Sick and headache next day but at the time it was fab!! Even the juice got you twated!!

The best thing I’ve found to put vodka in is a glass, maybe with some ice and a dash of Coke. Try it, it’s awesome at parties!

Why not do this, and then add the vodka

Tried it twice. First time following the Jamie Oliver method of hole and funnel. Essentially didn’t work. Had 1 area of watermelon which had lots in it and rest all normal.

2nd time I used a syringe and a spinal needle to infuse the watermelon throughout and that was a lot more successful but only really works if you have access to such equipment.
