viano update for those interested.
tyres – as expected the goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 3’s have utterly transformed it. the ride, steering feel, the noise in particular are night and day better. not done any long journeys to comment on economy but will report back when i have. i’m sure a similar effect would be forthcoming from any of the premium tyre makers, but the f1’s were recommended by a friend who happens to be the wheel and tyre supervisor for a large van oem whose engineering centre happens to be in essex, about 6 miles from my house… and in fairness the tyres i took off were of the funyoudieyoung variety.
the viano has seat rails which allow you to move the seats about however you would like. i have been looking for some kind of tie down eye which works with the rail and the same friend coincidentally recommended these (as he is a LR freak) and they work perfectly and are quite cheap

i got some of the single eyelet ones and they clip in perfectly – i’m using them to tie down stuff so it doesnt rattle around in the boot and smash the interior to bits. they also do screw down ones which eventually i hope to use to fix a long load cover/bed to fit behind the 2nd row of seats. the bikes will fit underneath in bike bags and during the day it will look like a load cover. and if it get it right it will be good for sleeping on.
