This feels extremely important, as much as the Referendum back on 2016, in fact this will have global implications, so incredibly important for Ukraine, Gaza, NATO.. everything really.

    So, who’s pulling a late one? 🙂

Obviously important but given I have zero influence in it and so am just along for the ride, I’ll be off to kip.

I’m not going to watch it all night but I hope Harris wins for many, many reasons including world stability, Ukraine,  Trump being prosecuted etc. etc.

Another big reason is that I work for a US company and I want to see the faces of the right wing zealots on the Weds stand-up call

I would if time zones were different, but it will be a long way into the morning before any significant results (or significantly close results) emerge.

Better to get a decent sleep ready for whatever madness happens tomorrow.

My understanding is that we will know a lot more earlier this time. Pennsylvania & Georgia will count early ballots in the 1st hr after polls close, as opposed to last time in the Covid era. I’m going to stay up until 1 & reckon we will know a lot by then.

early ballots in the 1st hr after polls close

Problem is that early ballots won’t be representative of all the other ballots, so it won’t be possible to extrapolate too much from that.

Although regardless of any votes actually being counted, it will be interesting to see how long it takes Trump to declare himself the winner. That might well happen overnight.

Given that it took several days/weeks to get a definitive result last time, I’ll save my sleepless nights just in case Trump wins.

Though a masochistic part of me is tempted to watch the “experts” waffling and extrapolating a national result from the news just in from Doohickey, West Virginia.

I’m just about to start a conversion back to Longhaul flying, with my first flights in January. As it stands I’m due to fly into Atlanta on 7 Jan – will the civil war have just started??? ?

A CNN piece I just watched on YT stated some areas are 80% early ballots, so actually we might know quite a bit….

I’d rather staple my cock to the Aberdeen express.

    I’ll be in bed cheers.

If its a clear win either way we may know early; 1 am ish

but if the polls are right and its super tight then it could be days or weeks

Its my birthday today and is it too much to ask that the orange quarterwit rapist shitbag definitively gets the boot??!

I plan to get an early one and see what tomorrow brings (thats what I plan anyway)

Yeah I think staying up for the count would be a good opportunity to try for the world record in staying awake.  From memory its about 18 days (aside from the medical condition which results in death).

UK elections are bad enough when we actually get results quickly and its normally conclusive early morning.

Yes I’m planning 6 days of total sleep deprivation just to make sure I’m there at the precise second that some random newsreader makes the statement that is subsequently agreed to be “when the election was called”.

If it was going to be 3 or 4am at latest I might consider it, but if it’s possibly going to be some time in the middle of next week? Lol.

Nope, I’ll very briefly check the news the next day, but that’s it. I have no influence on proceedings.

As many/all of Trumps lawsuits, if he loses, will be thrown out… Unless they are allowed in the Supreme court, I reckon there’s a good chance we’ll have an idea who’s won by the early hours… pending a military uprising of course.  😉

You’ll be able to tell how it is going by the wild accusations of fraud from the trump camp. The more outrageous they get, the more he will be on track to lose.

I am staying up until 2am to watch the funfair  if I can stay awake that is.

I just hope I don’t become grumpy in the morning.

p.s. Once I stay up late watching something and only slept for 2 hour. The following day I was doing a presentation and I struggled to remember what to say.

Far more so? The brexit ref was us shooting ourselves in the foot and no-one else much affected. The US vote may affect Ukraine and more of Eastern Europe, then Taiwan, and so on. And I truly hope enough Americans realise that and vote with that in mind.

given I have zero influence in it and so am just along for the ride, I’ll be off to kip.

This. Enough to stress over without being tired.

    Go Kamla.

Depends whether you consider a destabilised and distracted UK and Europe were part of Putin’s calculations when it came to having a go at capturing Kyiv by force, and subverting democracy in Tbilisi.

I’ll be getting up early tomorrow to catch up on things. The early results will just put me on edge, especially if they put Trump’s team into full disinformation and “feels like a win, don’t let them steal it” mode.

I’m stuck on Avanti West Coast until 10pm tonight, so I will idly refresh a couple of news channels.

I thought it took a couple of days for the result to be declared?

I also have no influence, so not much point in investing too much into this.

The whole thing is just filling me with such a feeling of dread that I just can’t face reading or seeing any more about it. I’m hiding behind the sofa until it’s over.

I’ll keep the radio on whilst i sleep but i’ll probably i’ll get a nightmare if the words win/trump are combined.

Me staying awake won’t alter anything so I’ll be off to bed.

I’m sure I’ll open up the news from time to time during the night.  I have zero influence on the outcome but if I’m awake then why not

I’ve just come off a call with three Americans and they would like to have our time zone so that they could have a decent sleep and digest the news when they wake up

Is it, in any way, possible that we get a draw? Like no overall winner?

I only just considered that so I’m sure there’s an answer

I’d support a fight to the death. My money is on Harris winning by a heart attack in the second round.

Be careful what you wish for. I was on a call to a colleague in the US earlier. I jokingly suggested that he shouldn’t watch the film Civil War in the next couple of days but I don’t think he thought it was funny.

I was going to suggest slamming it in a drawer but your version suggests greater strength of feeling.

Likewise I’ll be in bed, I have work and tbh even though I have an abundance of annual leave to take I won’t be wasting it on that shit show.

I’ll be staying up as late as I can. Whilst we won’t ‘know’ who’s definitively won, by the early hours we should have a pretty good idea. Just loaded up the first coffee. Gonna be a looooooong night

I will sleep easy, I now think Harris will win comfortably, but it won’t stop Trump claiming it was stolen, and then we will see how many lackeys he still has embedded in Government willing to do his biding.
