Fair enough Pembo but they are involved inmassive avoidance

It’s a little known fact that the James Callaghan government, previous to the battle axe’s administration, actually shut down more pits than the she devil did.
I work with a load of ex miners. A shower of greedier ba5tards you will never meet. They have had pay outs for white finger, emphysema, knee wear and tear, DIY (as in, they ahd to get tradesmen to do work for them), they are even putting in claims now for male pattern baldness!.
Some guys I work with have had over 100k in compensation, and earn more in compo pensions, than they do in wages at work (40k per annum).
And you also tend to find they don’t like to get their hands dirty, imagine a ‘miner’, no getting dirty!.
Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
brooessFree MemberCorporations taking advantage of (legal) tax avoidance:
a) of course they do, wouldn’t we all if we could? Why else are so many complaining VAT has gone up. No-one likes paying tax, whether an individual or businessman and we all like to avoid it if we can
b)if they’re not paying tax then they’re keeping the money. What are they doing with it? Not sticking it under the matress. Either a) re-investing it in the business (= more jobs) or b) giving it to shareholders (who are either private individuals or institutional investors like pension funds who are investing on behalf of….. private individuals
To slay them for avoiding paying tax is far too simplistic and assuming that no-one benefits from them doing itThe ‘economic problem’
I love the way we all think we know what’s wrong and how to fix it. Sorry, b*llocks. The brightest and most educated people in the world don;t know how this happened or how to fix it. The world has never faced a crisis like it. No-one can say Brown caused it or that Condems are making it worse, getting it wrong. It’s all conjecture, there’s simply no-one alive today with the experience or brains to have seen this coming, stop it and fix it.
Most people’s responses are, IMO, emotional and totally tainted by their own (narrow) experience and political bias, and neither approach can possibly give you the whole picture.
In a crisis you need positve attitudes, constructive criticism and teamwork. I’d like to see more of that. And basically, accept that it’s not going to be like it was. Let’s get over it, accept we’re still better off than almost everyone else in the world, and ride our (generally) rather expensive bikes and be grateful we have the wealth to afford them and leisure time to ride them

Well I will certainly try my best in the future, I promise………thanks for the pep talk.
SpongebobFree MemberUnions aren’t coming to an end, but the organisations and businesses that they have a hold over are!
They are still strong in organisations where money rolls in regardless of the strength of the economy, such as the public sector. Where left wing ideology sits well with these organisations’ ethos.
However, spending cuts will be giving these people a wake up call and no doubt will have the unions pushing for more strikes.
The remaining private companies still crippled by unions will eventually go under. They don’t seem to realise there’s a big recession going here, or understand the precipitous situation businesses are in because of the economic climate.
Cliffs and lemmings spring to mind!
Happy days!
ernie_lynchFree MemberThey don’t seem to realise there’s a big recession going here…..
Big recession ? Aren’t you jumping the gun a bit spongebob ?
A recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth. Britain only went back into negative growth in the last quarter of 2010. So we need another quarter of negative growth before it can be called a recession.
Therefore we are not in recession, let alone a “big recession”.
Of course due to this government’s economic policies it is very likely that Britain will go back into recession. We might even get a “big recession”. But give it a bit of time before you completely dismiss the Tory government’s handling of the economy, ffs.
I have to say spongebob, I had no idea that you had so little faith in the Tory government’s economic policies…….you certainly have ever given that impression before 😕
……but anyhow, welcome aboard anyway ! 🙂

bring down the government before they wreck the country
Form a political party of your own then put your ideas to the country and see if they people support you. If not then try not get your knickers in a twist.
😆
