I’ve been after some under helmet cycling caps for some time. Everything I’ve bought or tried has been on the tiny side. I’ve a massive gourd of a head 62-63cm.

Almost all caps are “one size fits all”. But they don’t. At the large end of the spectrum is a Madison cap I have, it just about fits, although it could still do with being a touch larger. I’ve tried Cyclogy, Stolen Goat, Restrap (actually measured as 52cm), even Fat Lad At The Back (measured at 58cm).

    Anyone found anything bigger?

Fellow Mekon here, I’ve got a couple of Van Rysel caps from Decathlon that are a nice fit on me, could be worth you trying?

I’ve had a couple of Galibier caps that came up larger than “normal”.

Might be a bit spendy but I was looking for a cap with a short peak and bought one from this guy. Notably he does them sized to fit so you can specify the size of your pumpkin.

No doubt others available. Unfortunately I lost the first one and the replacement’s material isn’t quite as nice feeling, but still a very nice hat.

I have a Galibier cap which at the time came in 2 sizes. Not sure if they still do that?

Interesting to know, as this subject comes up quite regularly

    Thanks people.

The Galibier caps look to be one size. I’ve ordered a couple of the Van Rysel ones from Decathlon. I’ll see how they fit.

Campagnolo Egyptian cotton are one size fits all but have a huge amount of give in them. Spendy at £30 each, but a small peak and good coverage means they are excellent.

I have a similar sized head.

Walz make an XXL to order (extra $2.50) which claims to be for 63cm. I’ve never pulled the trigger because of the cost, but they look like a quality bit of kit.

The Decathlon Van Rysel caps turned up today. Spot on fit. Really nice lightweight material, so will make good three season caps.

Those Walz caps look very nice.

Alpkit do one that comes in large:

I also struggle with one size fits all headwear. and this one is pretty good.

Which reminds me I haven’t seen it for a while… must go and dig it out.

The Van Rysel caps are down to £8.99 at the mo. Just bought 2 to stock up and help justify the still reasonable P&P.

    Thanks for the thread
