ton - I'm not getting "ugly" from that pic.
I only have ugly bikes, sod mainstream
ton - I'm not getting "ugly" from that pic.
purposefull then? 😆
usable would be my description.
for truly epic ugly you need a pronghorn....or Halifax filing cabinet. Nothing else can match the "welded by a blind chimp" beauty of a five or the truly orthopaedic shoe proportions of a pronghorn.
They make my eyes do a little vomit
It might look better with proper, man-sized wheels and with tyres like those you might be able to fit them in.
Kato, who the hell brought that thing? 😯
Sheesh Tony, that's on hell of a Bergen you've got under yer saddle there buddy.. 😆
I can't remember. He had a dog and a white cane though
My Hemlock is, er, functional. But I love it, honestly the best bike I've ridden, and not by a little. Absolutely filled with Rightness.
But looks quite a lot like this:
My Dare on the other hand...

The Dare is winning this competition for me so far 🙂
The Ellsworth is shocking.
I love that Dare.
Argh, even the Preston looks good next to the Dare! *says the Five owner*
Sheesh Tony, that's on hell of a Bergen you've got under yer saddle there buddy..
sandwich box that mate... 😉
no, the dare is soooo wrong it's right. It's a bit like granny porn, you know it'll make most folks vomit and then after a while you appreciate that you can still get jiggy with it
It was properly ****... The guy I sold it to was convinced it was beautiful. I did consider calling the police.
For the loverz and the haterz,

It's like 2 different teams of designers both sat down to design the world's ugliest bike, without comparing notes, then they combined the results by chopping them in half and nailing them together.
*rubs thighs* phwooooar.
My Hemlock is, er, functional
The front end is fine - the rear looks like someones GCSE coursework 🙂
Are we talking about bikes, or Ton's lunchbox here?

Got 2 Pronghorns, and while the PR6-LT is very gopping, I think the XC-SW Carbon is positively sublime. Proper function over form over function madness.
Well these are my 2 beauty's!!

I love em both!
The Mav is a looker! I always wanted one of those
would post my ellsworth but I won't be responsible for ruining so many keyboards
I love the combo of Maverick + reversed layback Thomson, it's in a wibbly wobbly world of its own.

Right on cue...
Mr. Soft, please tell me why the world that you live in is so strange! 😉
The Mav is a looker!
I wouldn't go that far... Rides brilliantly though!
stuff it, i hate you all anyway
As Ellsworth's go, that's positively restrained! Almost conventional you might say...
Northwind that bike looks like a very overly stretched frame
Well none of my gcse groups would ever get to make anything so fugly 😉 i do quite like that mboy curver is that wrong? I think my giant trance is not too great looking but i like it loads apart from the brakes at the moment AARGJHH
A 150mm stem would finish that Klein off nicely.

😯
Fantasic 🙂
That layback post + Maverick looks like some optical illusion.
Half the reason to buy a bike is what it makes you feel when you look at it.
Built up a spare parts bike a few years back, with a cheap full sus frame I found on ebay.
In retrospect I want to dig it out the cupboard under the stairs and build it up again. It even had some Floats for a while, its biggest failing was the rear shock was absolute turd.
That red thing - I had forgotten about this until I saw that pic: My mum bought a cheap exercise bike... my brother weighed a little too much and sat on the thing and started pedaling... gradually the seat bent until he was sat on the floor.

It's already got a 120. I think that's quite long enough 😉
I recently discovered my bike being slammed on a french website- They hate it! 😀

It's actually really quite good as a SS full sus because it stiffens when standing to gurn so it doesn't bob around. It's more like a soft tail than a proper full sus though - it takes the edge off bumps rather than being plush despite actually having about 7" travel.
When seated, it feels pretty normal - I can't say that I've ever noticed it feel like the BB is moving a lot with one particular exception - if accelerating out of a tight corner while seated, you feel the back whole bike kind of tuck up and it feels like your effort's going nowhere.
Oh and it can be scary on steep drops if you run with any signifiance sag as the saddle suddenly rises just as you go over the edge! I run with little sag 🙂
Sorry, the 2nd Ellsworth won't win this competition. It's not half as ugly as the first.
Pinetree, you probably feel honoured, don't you? Rightly so!
The last one should be considered a piece of art. Early phase of Pop Rat Brutalism or something.
The blue Ellsworth wins. That is disgusting.
I love the look of Mavericks. Someone sell me one cheap!
Clubber - that may be a fuggly bike but that's a great shot of the Arnolfini and the harbour. Still regret moving away from Bris. Best town on the planet.
jivehoneyjive, to be fair that was probably quite a nice bike before someone left it too close to the fire
Thanks to a STW post to the ebay ad I got this delivered this morning...
You BOUGHT it? 😯
i got them both 🙂
I mainly wanted something I could go to the shops on, there are a couple of potholes
dammit!! Mikewsmith beat me to it... 😆
oh well...here are the other ugly monsters that make up the rest of the family...

Indeed, I think it could be. I'm very happy here 🙂
And the new trails make it even better - weatherproof and direct most of the riders away from the less robust, less obvious trails which means that they're rideable in winter too.
