  • Tyre bonded to rim – impossible to get it off

Had a puncture for the first time in a couple of years on rear wheel. trying to get the tyre of and can’t. Almost as if some chemical reaction between alloy rim and tyre have bonded them both together. It’s not a tubeless setup.

    Any suggestions?

    Try harder.

I can even get tubs off and they ARE glued to the rim.

    Try harder.

+1000 It will come of, really force your tyre lever in there, boiling water poured around he bead might help to.

Stand on it – Hold the wheel at ~45 degrees with tyre resting on the ground. Nip the tyre between the edge of your shoe and the ground, as close to the rim as possible.

Or like tillydog’s, but use a spade, works for motorcycle tyres.

Splash of petrol. Do not light it.
