That was Buran, which was a wholly Soviet design. It only flew once, in 1988 when it completed an unmanned launch and landed safely under automation.
There are a few differences, notably that Buran is considerably smaller than the shuttle and lacks the manoeuvring engines at the rear. The similarities to the shuttle are largely coincidental, given that like the shuttle, Buran was designed to glide to a suitable runway after re-entry.
