It looks like decent weather this weekend so I’m off for a nice old fashioned Quantocks ride. Up and along the ridge, find a combe, ride down it and then back up for more of the same. I’m avoiding the scary stuff around Triscombe.

If anyone fancies some company I’ll be in the village (cricket pitch) carpark in Holcombe at 10.30. Dark green Trek, shiny turd coloured Berlingo.

Oh, did I hear someone mention a pub?

    Ooooh, Really?

Do you know what the route is, it’ll be good to watch.

I’m still owed a fiver for marshalling at the world champs in Afan Argoed years ago. I remember a couple of riders didn’t return on time and when I went back up the section to check all I could find was jazz mags and empty Guinness cans. Not that I want to watch that TBH. I mentioned it as an interesting anecdote.

Just keep digging Ambrose, there’s a way out of this somewhere!

Pretty well on all the RoWs, off piste stuff less so. I’ll be sticking to what I know because of my hurty leg.

Enjoy @Ambrose!  I grew up riding the tocks, went back for a week ends riding in late July and it was bloody amazing! I really miss not living 10m down the road now.

I live in Holford… still the time of year where deer can be harder to see amongst the ferns and gorse. Most reliable spots recently are on the flanks of Bicknoller Combe.. turn left at the bottom of Weacombe and climb back up it… (sorry for the steepness at the top) or between Shepherds Combe and Slaughterhouse Combe (the latter having been really chunked up by last years wet winter and not quite its once flowy self even now)
