Therefore, you will not be “pulling the trigger” on making your purchase.

Next you’ll be saying bikes shouldn’t be referred to as ‘steeds’

“Investing” in some gewgaw or other liability.

I’ve often heard people say it about cars, desktop computers and other shiny things that lose half their value in the first year.

Surely if you pull the trigger on dropping a serious investment on some buttery smooth forks to weaponise your steed and therefore enhance your quiver (even if some are darkside) so you can murder the trails that’s ok?

No, it’s actually more likely to be an edit than a short film. Especially if it has no script, no narrative, no plot and no characters.

I’m with Matt – edit is a verb for what you do to make a short film. Calling it an edit is very ‘youth’ but still silly.

That’s funny because when I was an assistant editor we used to produce edits. Or cuts. Editors and directors will often refer to taking a look at an edit or cut which might be the result of many days or weeks “editing”.

Calling it an edit is very ‘youth’ but still silly.

This is why you don’t like it. I suppose language should be rigidly fixed at a certain exact time period. 1940 perhaps?

You can call it what you like in the industry sonny (and dear god isn’t some in-industry language total toss), but when you give it over to the public you’ve got to use our language!

Teenagers only use the term as they want to come over all industry savvy try hard. It’s a phase, it’ll pass.

    Gah this again.

And the apologists for crappy standards emerge positing ‘evolution’ as a valid excuse for sloppiness or plain old made up nonsense.

Language changes. Deal with it and shut the **** up. Do you speak old english, or middle english or victorian english? No.

Changing or evolving definitions of words is not the same as changing standards. You probably use hundreds of modern abbreviations and definitions that would be nonsensical guff to someone living in the 70s or 80s. You just choose to react negatively to current shifts in definitions and language because it is “of the youth” and you are old.

Have you read the thread properly – most of the phrases above are popularised by middle aged tossers. The phrases (e.g. quiver for collection of bikes or pull the trigger for buying something online) are regarded with humour/mirth/derision because there are popularised by middle aged tossers!

Having said that, I bet you say ‘bants’ don’t you 😉

Nice. Are you usually this rude to complete strangers? Probably another sign of your inability to recognise standards and social norms.

Did you read the post I was replying to? Did you read the post above it which user-boblo was commenting on? Did you notice that he commented

Just bants innit Welcome to the internet

It’s not really though is it? It’s just plain rude and unnecessary.

You forget, language is a shared resource and unless there is some standardisation, it quickly becomes unusable. And, you don’t get to unilaterally change the standard under the guise of being ‘yoof’ or ‘edgy’.

Anyway, I’m off for a ride in the sun ya caant (just bantz hey?).
