So, I thought I’d give the bike an end of season strip and rebuild ready for next year. It was cold out and the garage has got a car in the way so…… Makeshift workshop.

You put a workmat down, what’s the problem? 😉

I can’t see a hammer? Or any empty Stella cans? Your idea of an end of season strip and rebuild is obviously quite different to mine 😀

You read the instructions when fitting new bits?

Put the camping stove in the garden. That way she can stay warm while she cooks your tea and she’ll think how thoughtful and caring you are. Everyone’s a winner.

Wife would have chilled with a bottle of wine but couldn’t get to fridge or corkscrew…

That’s what I said. I even pointed out that I had a torque wrench so nothing could go wrong. If anything that just made her more angry. Can’t win.

Even looks like he washed the bike before he took it in there!

Have you plugged the sink. Taking a bike apart is fun, unlike a sink U-bend, in search for parts 🙁

😆 Absolutely. She did start screaming ‘Outside! Go on! Outside!’ and threw a crank onto the lawn for me to go and fetch… I presumed.

Dude you need to get that sorted, your missis needs to know who is the boss in you house!

And next time get it all cleared up before she gets back

You read the instructions when fitting new bits?

I never did ( know it all ), untill last night. fitted a new campag mech to my cross bike. Two hours of insanity followed because I couldn’t get the gears to index. Finally the instructions came out, seems I’d clamped the gear cable slightly wrong !!!!! 30 secs later all sorted. Going to read them all from now on !

that would be because you did your bike first I assume then because I can’s see owt wrong with what you are doing, apart from the instructions being out and distinct lack of Perroni bottles

did she find the parts that were being cleaned in the dishwasher?
the chain sitting in petrol in the sink?
the brake pads being reconditioned in the oven?

Blue pedals…On that Yellow frame ??? No wonder she was not impressed

I don’t see any problems at all. She should appreciate how you’ve improved an otherwise bland kitchen.

Looks much better. My bike lives like this in our living room.

I always do a rebuild in the springs after a winter of mud and grit. Although after this summer a monthly rebuild would have been more appropriate.

Good setup.. You are equal distance from the kettle and wine rack (beverage choice dependant on how well the service goes 🙂 )

I agree with all of that, but there’s one hell of a lot of white going on in that ‘space’….how did you manage not to get finger marks on: kettle, door edge, worktops? And, after positioning the mat, manage to stay within it’s confineds??

Petrol in the sink, that’s a bit old skool if you ask me? Have you tried: old washing bowl, neat fairy (you know what I mean) on the chain, tooth brushing (again, you know what I mean by that), rinse off, then blast through with GT, dry then re-lube – sounds protracted but not really, plenty of blue roll as a splash guard and all’s good.

Personally, I would not have brought petrol into the house. Other than that, I don’t see a problem – no, wait…cardboard on the gas hob! H&S 1974………….

Clearly her “chain” allows her to get out your way so what’s the problem??

The red marks on the wall, are they grease covered palm prints from where you had to steady yourself after said GT85/sock slippage?

Having reread your original post I have identified the problem.

‘Your’ area isn’t as nice in winter as ‘her’ area.

It’s time to pimp the man cave, starting with a heater!

One of my mates had a motorbike engine on his lounge carpet for about a month, just standing on some newspaper with obvious leakage through it. His wife didn’t really seem to mind 😯 .
