I got shitloads of the questions wrong , I only did well because I was quick. All those bonus points for quick answers soon rack up.

No, you get additional bonus points for providing the correct answers more quickly than the other contestants.
It was all in the pre-quiz instructions.

Don’t think so but if you get double points (or whatever) for getting a right answer quickly, it may negate the ones you get wrong.

1st right answer gets an additional lift point wise, works towards solving tie break situations too
